 Berniece “Bee” Haun age 88 of Marion and formerly of Dunkerton passed away Sunday, May 13, 2018 surrounded by her loved ones after a five year battle with dementia. Bee was born October 16, 1929 in Chickasaw County, Iowa the daughter of August and Sophie (Spear) Zell. She attended school in Waterloo, IA. On June 21, 1947 she was united in marriage to Charlie Haun at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Fairbank, IA. To this union five children were born, four daughters and one son. Besides being a homemaker and raising five children Bee was always keeping busy outside of her everyday routine such as leading a  detasseling crew for 16 years and helping at the church whenever needed. Bee also was a Scout Leader, she volunteered at Mercy Hospital and at the Midwest Old Threshers Reunion in Mount Pleasant. Bee enjoyed playing cribbage, sewing and baking. She loved flowers, collecting spoons and traveling, she traveled to every state in the continental United States by car except for Alaska and she did fly to Hawaii. But most of all Bee loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them.

Bee is survived by her three daughters; Darlene Farrell of Whittier, IA, Marlene (Ray) Bussey of Roscoe, IL and Lois (Steve) Snyder of Marion, IA, one son; Russell Haun of Rockton, IL, 12 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Jerry Johnson of Clinton, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one brother, Harold Zell, one daughter, Sharon Bergeron and two great-grandchildren; Jonathan Jarmon at infancy and Gabe Haun.

Services: 2:00 pm Saturday May 19, 2018 at Woods Funeral Home, Fairbank.

Visitation: 4:00-7:00 pm Friday May 18, 2018 at the funeral home.

Interment: Grove Hill Cemetery in rural Bremer County.

Fairbank: Lois Elizabeth “Lo-E” Miller age 93 peacefully passed away surrounded by her family, Thursday May 10, 2018 at Mercy Living Plus in Oelwein, Iowa. She was born June 21, 1924 in Dubuque the daughter of Art “Pop” and Bea (Theis) Rastatter. Lo-E graduated from St. Columbkilles High School of Dubuque in 1942. Lo-E married Joe Miller May 2, 1953 at St. Columbkilles Catholic Church in Dubuque. Together they owned and operated Miller Plumbing and Heating in Fairbank for many years. Lo-E served as the choir director at Immaculate Conception Church in Fairbank for many years and served on various church committees. She enjoyed playing cards with friends and attending any and all family sporting events. Her greatest joys in life were her strong Catholic faith, family and her love of music. Heaven gained a new choir director who will keep the beat a going.

Lo-E is survived by her six children; Joe (Jeanne) Miller of White Bear Lake, MN, Jane (Hal) Holder of St. Peters, MO, Pat (Lynn) Miller of Fairbank, Greg (Shelli) Miller of Davenport, Barb (Tim) Klopfenstein of Washington and John (Jo) Miller of Davenport, 17 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and one great-grandchild on the way. One brother, Charles (Pat) Rastatter of Tuscon, AZ, two sisters; Mimi Rastatter of Washington state and Sister Barbara Rastatter of Dubuque along with a sister-in-law Maryanne Rastatter. Lo-E is also survived by a very special niece, Mary Jans and nephew Kevin Coffin.

She was preceded by her husband, her parents, two brothers David and Paul Rastatter and a sister, Jeanne (Norbert) Willging.

Services: 10:30 am Monday May 14, 2018 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Fairbank.

Visitation: 4:00 -7:00 pm Sunday May 13, 2018 with a 3:45 parish rosary at Woods Funeral Home.

Interment: Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery.

Traer: Walter LeRoy “Bud” Trimble age 82 passed away Thursday, April 19, 2018 at Grandview Nursing Center in Oelwein. He was born January 20, 1936 at home in Dysart, IA the son of Harold and Mary Louise (Kithcart) Trimble.  Walter or “Bud” as he was named shortly after birth by his grandfather, moved to Traer at a young age and lived there for several years. He graduated from Traer High School and worked with his father, Harold for many years at Trimble Welding Shop in Traer. Bud was also a member of the Iowa National Guard and received an Honorable Discharge at the end of his service. He married Janet M. Mills, December 10, 1966 and they later divorced after raising eight children.

Bud is survived by his eight children; Bonnie (Chris) Chazotte of Asheville, NC, John Trimble of Dike, IA, Charlotte (Jack) Teetsel of Cadillac, MI, Andrew (Roxanne) Trimble of LaPorte City, IA, Richard (Kris) Trimble of Cedar Falls, IA, LaDonna (Jeremy) Langstraat of Pleasantville, IA, Philip (Lani) Trimble of Waverly, IA, and Kayeleen (Brent) Luloff of Waterloo, IA. He is the grandfather to 22 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Lois Jean (Jack) Martin of Denton, TX along with several nieces and nephews.

Walter was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Mary Louise Trimble, an older brother Wayne Trimble and younger brother, James Trimble and three grandchildren, Brianna, Cody and William Trimble.

A Family Celebration of Life will be held at the funeral home.

 Raymond Bernard Chase age 80 of Prairie du Chien, WI and formerly of Fairbank, IA passed away May 12, 2017 at Crossing Rivers Heath Medical Center of congestive heart failure.

Ray was born April 27, 1937 in Oran, Iowa.  The son of Bernard and Elizabeth (Potts) Chase.  He attended school at Oran, Iowa. Ray married Patricia Ann Schlamp in February of 1956 and they later divorced. On May 9, 1970 he married Betty Kay Steggall at the Schuyler County Courthouse in Missouri. Ray worked at John Deere in Waterloo, IA for 32 years and then retired. Ray and Betty moved to Prairie Du Chien in 2002. Ray needed something to do after his retirement from John Deere so he went to work for Blair Dillman doing various jobs such as running different pieces of equipment or simply running errands he enjoyed his time there, which lasted for 13 years. In his spare time Ray loved fishing, woodworking and spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife Betty.  His children; Judy (Mike) Duffy of Fairbank,Brian (Barb) Chase of Oelwein, Don (Michele) Chase of Des Moines, and Eric (Aimee) Chase of Spokane, Washington, 14 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Dale Warren and a grandson, Joshua Menuey.

Fairbank: Mary Elizabeth Martins, 92, of Fairbank, died Sunday March 11, 2018 at Mercy Living Plus in Oelwein, Iowa. She was born on December 31^st 1925 in Fairbank, Iowa the daughter of William and Agnes (Kerns)  Haberkamp.  She graduated from Immaculate Conception Catholic School in Fairbank.  On December 29^th 1954, Mary was united in marriage to Donald Martins at Immaculate Conception Church in Fairbank, Iowa.  Don and Mary then began farming the Haberkamp family farm near Fairbank and did so until they retired.  Mary was an active partner in farming her entire life.  She was a member of the Fairbank Women’s Club, Fairbank Legion Auxiliary, and many local card and social clubs. She enjoyed volunteering at church and legion activities. Mary loved gardening, sewing, quilting, BINGO and cooking.  She took much pride in preparing home cooked meals for her family and anyone that came around at meal time.  Mary enjoyed spending time with family and all social gatherings. Most of all, she was a very proud mother and grandmother.

Mary is survived by her husband, Donald: and son Doug (Janice) Martins of Fairbank: three grandchildren, Garrett, Emily, and Lydia Martins all of Fairbank: sister Wilma Haberkamp of Fairbank. Brother-in-Law, Duane (Marlys) Martins, Waukon Iowa, Sister-in-laws: Della Cowell of Luana, IA, Darlene  Nuehring, Postville IA, along with many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded death by her parents, a sister, Josephine Haberkamp, one brother (infant) William Haberkamp. Four brothers in-law: Delbert Martins, Delos Martins,  Dwight Martins, Eldred Nuehring, and Harry Larson and three sisters-in-law Delores Martins, Donna Martins, and Donna Mae Martins.

Oran: Russell Frederick Cummings age 86 passed away Saturday, March 10, 2018 at Parkview Assisted Living in Fairbank. He was born May 13, 1931 near Dunkerton. He was the son of Floyd and Grace (Turner) Cummings. Russell attended and graduated from Oran High School. After high school he served in the United States Army from 1952-1954 during the Korean War. When he returned home from the war he attended Iowa State Teacher’s College from 1954-1955. Russell was employed by Lorber Construction of Oran for many years until his retirement. He was a volunteer firefighter for the Oran Fire Department for 40 years. He was also a loyal member of the First Baptist Church of Fairbank for over 50 years, where he helped out with the care and maintenance of the church. Russell was known by many as the “Mayor of Oran.” He enjoyed and was honored to go on an Honor Flight to Washington D.C. to visit the Korean War Memorial. Russell is survived by a brother, Merlyn (Helen) Cummings of Santa Barbara, California, one nephew; David, four nieces; Kathy, Karen, Kris and Janice and his special family Doris Parizek, Diane Neil, Mel and Judy Neil and their families. He was preceded in death by brothers, Everett, Dale (Beverly) Cummings and special family members; Larry Parizek, Dale Neil, Dennis (Brenda) Neil.

Oelwein: Jim Leehey age 74 passed away at his home Thursday, December 21, 2017. He was born December 13, 1943 in Oelwein, the son of Joseph and Anna Mae (Taylor) Leehey. Jim grew up in the Fairbank area and graduated from Wapsie Valley Community Schools.  After high school Jim served in the United States Army from 1961-1962. After his time in the Army Jim started driving truck and eventually started his own trucking business which he owned and operated right up until his health prevented him from working.

Survived by: his wife; Alice, three daughters; Tammy (Mark) Keith, Andrea (Bill) Williams and Rhonda (Lauren) Andrews. four step-sons; Don (Mona) Cook, Dennis (Melody) Cook, Tom (Jeanette) Cook and Scott Cook, one daughter-in-law; Dawn Cook along with 16 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers; Timothy (Julie) Leehey and Michael (Joann) Leehey, three sisters; Patricia (Wade) Tuchshenner, Bonnie Westendorf and Joann Hughson.

Preceded in death by: his parents, one son; Nicholas Leehey, one step-son; Douglas Cook and one great-grandson; Jordan Johnson. Along with two brothers-in-law; Robert Hughson and Don Westendorf.
