Raymond B. Chase

 Raymond Bernard Chase age 80 of Prairie du Chien, WI and formerly of Fairbank, IA passed away May 12, 2017 at Crossing Rivers Heath Medical Center of congestive heart failure.

Ray was born April 27, 1937 in Oran, Iowa.  The son of Bernard and Elizabeth (Potts) Chase.  He attended school at Oran, Iowa. Ray married Patricia Ann Schlamp in February of 1956 and they later divorced. On May 9, 1970 he married Betty Kay Steggall at the Schuyler County Courthouse in Missouri. Ray worked at John Deere in Waterloo, IA for 32 years and then retired. Ray and Betty moved to Prairie Du Chien in 2002. Ray needed something to do after his retirement from John Deere so he went to work for Blair Dillman doing various jobs such as running different pieces of equipment or simply running errands he enjoyed his time there, which lasted for 13 years. In his spare time Ray loved fishing, woodworking and spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife Betty.  His children; Judy (Mike) Duffy of Fairbank,Brian (Barb) Chase of Oelwein, Don (Michele) Chase of Des Moines, and Eric (Aimee) Chase of Spokane, Washington, 14 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Dale Warren and a grandson, Joshua Menuey.

Visitation:  10:00 am – 12:00 pm Saturday April 14th at Woods Funeral Home, Fairbank

  3. So sorry to hear of Ray’ s passing. I have many fond memories of our time at Deeres. Also, enjoyed seeing him at the “cabin” and hearing weekend stories.
    Ray was a great friend and I have great memories of him.
