Fairbank: Mary Elizabeth Martins, 92, of Fairbank, died Sunday March 11, 2018 at Mercy Living Plus in Oelwein, Iowa. She was born on December 31st 1925 in Fairbank, Iowa the daughter of William and Agnes (Kerns)  Haberkamp.  She graduated from Immaculate Conception Catholic School in Fairbank.  On December 29th 1954, Mary was united in marriage to Donald Martins at Immaculate Conception Church in Fairbank, Iowa.  Don and Mary then began farming the Haberkamp family farm near Fairbank and did so until they retired.  Mary was an active partner in farming her entire life.  She was a member of the Fairbank Women’s Club, Fairbank Legion Auxiliary, and many local card and social clubs. She enjoyed volunteering at church and legion activities. Mary loved gardening, sewing, quilting, BINGO and cooking.  She took much pride in preparing home cooked meals for her family and anyone that came around at meal time.  Mary enjoyed spending time with family and all social gatherings. Most of all, she was a very proud mother and grandmother.

Mary is survived by her husband, Donald: and son Doug (Janice) Martins of Fairbank: three grandchildren, Garrett, Emily, and Lydia Martins all of Fairbank: sister Wilma Haberkamp of Fairbank. Brother-in-Law, Duane (Marlys) Martins, Waukon Iowa, Sister-in-laws: Della Cowell of Luana, IA, Darlene  Nuehring, Postville IA, along with many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded death by her parents, a sister, Josephine Haberkamp, one brother (infant) William Haberkamp. Four brothers in-law: Delbert Martins, Delos Martins,  Dwight Martins, Eldred Nuehring, and Harry Larson and three sisters-in-law Delores Martins, Donna Martins, and Donna Mae Martins.

Funeral Services: 10:30 am Monday, March 19, 2018 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Fairbank.

Visitation: 4:00-7:00 pm Sunday, March 18 at Woods Funeral Home.

Rosary: 3:45 pm Sunday, March 18 at the funeral home.

Interment: Fairbank Cemetery.

Memorials: may be directed to the Fairbank American Legion or to the family.
