Harold “Bud” J. Ferguson died Tuesday March 11 at Allen Hospital in Waterloo from complications of cancer.

He was born May 11, 1940 in Aurora Ill. the son of Harold J. and Martha (Klemp) Ferguson. He married Maxine Bohle and they later divorced, he then married Linda Pries on September 20, 1986 in Sumner. Bud served in the U.S. Army from 1963-1965. He then worked for Shirey Co. and from there went to John Deere and worked there for 32 years retiring in 1995. After his retirement he drove truck for Hawkeye Tile, Gray Transportation and most recently up until his illness Kane Farms. He was a member of St. Peters Lutheran Church of Oran, Fairbank American Legion and UAW Local 838 of Waterloo.

Bud is survived by his wife Linda, a daughter Tracy (Eliott) White of Clayton Wi. a granddaughter, Brittany, a grandson, Brent; 2 sisters, Velma Jean (Milton) Jones of Hawkeye and Velda (Dale) Lynch of Sumner; 2 Brothers, Garold Ferguson of Sumner and LaVern (Debbie) Ferguson of Moline Ill. Along With several nieces and nephews.

He was preceeded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be Thursday March 11 from 4:00 until 8:00 pm at the funeral home and for one hour before services at the church.

Services will be Friday March 12 at 10:30 am. at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Oran with burial at Grove Hill Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by Fortsch-Duffy Post 552 of Fairbank.

Fairbank-Madeline M. Kerns, of Fairbank, died Thursday, February 25, at Allen Memorial Hospital, Waterloo, Iowa

She was born May 11, 1925, at Fairbank, Iowa, daughter of Adam A and Cecilia (Weber) Buzynski.

She married John Kerns, on August 24, 1945 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Fairbank.

Survived by:  Five daughters, Kay (Bob) Frame, Connie (Jack) Rechkemmer of Fairbank, Jane (Mike) Heineman, Readlyn, Julie (Scott) Ceaglske, Cedar Falls, Carolyn (Paul) Lingard, Macon, Missouri.  Three sons, Gary (Carol) Pocahontas, Arkansas, Bob (Kathy) Kerns, Jacksonville, Flordia, Craig (Laddie) Kerns, Fairbank. Twenty-Three grandchildren.  Two brothers, Loras Buzynski, Oelwein, Iowa, John (Eleanor) Buzynski, Fairbank, Iowa.  One sister in-law, Shirley Buzynski, Fairbank, Iowa.

Preceded  in death by: her husband, John, March 29, 1984, a son, John, in infancy,  her parents, son-in-law, Bruce Bockholt, grandson in-law, Mark Eicholz, two great grandchildren, Kelcy and Drake Frame, one brother, Harold Buzynski.

Services: at 10:30 a.m. on Monday,  March 1, 2010, Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Fairbank, with burial in the Church Cemetery.  Public visitation from 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home with a parish rosary at 3:30 p.m. and Scripture Service at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

ANACONDA, MONTANA-Debra Ann (Buzynski) Strang, of Anaconda, Montona, died Thursday, February 18, 2010, at Philipsburg, Montana, of hypothermia.

She was born March 28, 1955 at Mercy Hospital, Oelwein, Iowa, daughter of Harold and Shirley (Neith) Buzynski.

She married Jim Strang on July 3, 1998 at Anaconda, Montana.

Survived by: her daughter, Angela (Corey) Chew, Murray, Iowa; one son, Shane Fettkether, Brooklyn, Iowa.  Two granddaughters, Josie and Jaiden.  Her mother, Shirley Buzynski, Fairbank.  Six brothers, Brad ( Suzie) Buzynski, Maynard, Iowa, Tom (Melaine) Buzynski, Fairbank, Iowa, Mitch Buzynski, Fairbank, Iowa, Mark (Dawn) Buzynski, West Des Moines, Iowa, Pete (Lori) Buzynski, Oahu, Hawaii, Scott (Amy) Buzynski, Fairbank, Iowa.  Three sisters, Cindy (Roger) Myers, Fairbank, Iowa, Kelli (Bruce) Milbrandt, Eagle Lake, Minnesota, Kim Buzynski, Fairbank, Iowa.

Preceded in death by: her husband of thirteen years, Jim Strang; her father, Harold Buzynski: two sisters, Lynn and Lori Buzynski: one brother, Michael Buzynski.

Services:  Memorial service at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 29, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Fairbank, with inurnment in the Church cemetery.  Visitation on Friday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Waterloo-Richard J. “Dick” Johnson, 76, died January 19, 2010 of comlications of Alzheimer’s diease.

He was born on October 20, 1933 in Dunkerton, Iowa, son of Alzora and Verl Johnson Sr.

He married Kimberly Frazee on May 10, 1983 in Prairie Du Chien, Wisconsin.

Mr. Johnson attended Dunkerton High School where he excelled in baseball as a pitcher.  He served in the U.S. Air Force  from 1953-1956 and was employed at Rath Packing Company for 33 years, retiring in 1984.

He is survived by his wife Kim, a stepson, Scott Frazee of Oklahoma City, OK.  His brother Skip (Kelly) Johnson of Waterloo, four nieces, a son Rick and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter Diane Johnson.

Dick enjoyed “buying and selling” cars, watching the Chicago Cubs and Yankees.  He liked to travel and spent sixteen winters in Texas.  He had many wonderful friends including those at Windsor and Beacon of Hope.

Memorials services: will be on Friday at 1:00 p.m. at Woods Funeral Home in Fairbank, Iowa,with inurnment at a later date.

FAIRBANK-Marie M. Kaufman of Fairbank, died Sunday, January 17, 2010, at Mercy Living Plus, Oelwein, Iowa.

She was born October 2, 1910 at Gilbertsville, Iowa, daughter of Matthias and Catherine (Delagardelle) Steils.

She married Fred Kaufman on January 16, 1929 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Gilbertsville, Iowa.

Survived by: Four sons: Jim (Glenda) Kaufman, Jerry (Wanda) Kaufman both of Fairbank, Iowa. Jack (Nancy) Kaufman of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Tim (Shar) Kaufman of Howells, Nebraska. Three daughters: Connie Broell and Mary Kaufman  both of Waterloo, Iowa and Sue Thompson of Egan, Minnesota. Twenty-seven grandchildren, fifty-five great grandchildren and fourteen great- great  granchildren

Preceded in Death by: her husband Fred, her parents, one son, Wallace Kaufman, four brothers, Leo Steils, Henry Steils, Adolph Steils, Matthew Steils.  Two sistrs: Florence Love and Betty Happel. Two daughters in-laws, Mildred Kaufman and Doris Kaufman, a son in-law, Doc Broell, one grandson, two great granddaughters, one great great granddaughter and one grandson in-law.

Services:  at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 21, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Fairbank, with burial at Eagle Center Catholic Cemetery.  Public visitation from 3:00  to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, at the funeral home with a 4:00 p.m. Rosary and 6:30 p.m. Scripture Service.

Maynard; Henry Ziegler died Wednesday January 13 at Allen Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa after a brief illness. He was born April 8, 1928 in Buchanan County Ia. the son of  William and Dorothy (Waligorski) Ziegler. Henry retired from John Deere Tractor Works, Waterloo in 2009 after 60 years of employment.

Henry is survived by 2 brothers; Harold (Doris) Ziegler of Fairbank, Donald Ziegler of Oelwein, 2 sisters, Hazel (Henry) Stoll of Brighton Colorado, Darlene (Richard) Holt of Wadena along with several nieces and nephews.

He was preceeded in death by his parents, a brother William Ziegler and a sister in-law Faye Ziegler.

Services will be Monday January 18, at 10:30 am at Woods Funeral Home in Fairbank, with burial at the Fairbank Cemetery.

Visitation will be Sunday January 17, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Funeral Home.

FAIRBANK: Mildred (Milly) Raejean Kaufman, of Fairbank, died Thursday, December 31, at her home in Fairbank.

She was born on November 24, 1924 at Traer, Iowa, daughter of Joseph and Ruth (LeFever) Drahos.

She married Wallace F. Kaufman on February 9, 1948 at St. Johns Catholic Church, Waterloo, Iowa.

Survived By: four daughters: Dianne (Joe) Rubino, Donna (Dean Mangrich) Costello, and Karen (Kevin) Coffin all of Fairbank, and Elaine (Charles) Henry of Broomfield, Colorado.  Two sons, Mark Kaufman of Waterloo, and Kevin (Denise Youngblut) Kaufman of Fairbank.  Nineteen grandchildren, Jeff (Tami) Rubino, Jennifer (Matt)  Davidson, JaNae Rubino, Lisa Rees, Leon (Heather) Costello, Myles Costello, Matt (Brenda) Coffin, Mitchell Coffin, Michael Coffin, Adam (Tammy Niehaus & Brady) Kaufman,
Andy (Brook) Kaufman, Aaron (Kristin)Kaufman, Derek Kaufman, Carter Kaufman, Dana Weber, Levi Henry, Ian Henry, Isaac Henry, Lacey Henry and twelve great-grandchildren. Her mother in-law, Marie Kaufman, Oelwein; brother in-law, Michael Schmitz, Gilbertsville; her brother, Duane (Joan)  Drahos, Shell Rock and her brother in-laws, James Kaufman, Jerry Kaufman, of Fairbank, Jack Kaufman of Cedar Rapids and Tim Kaufman of Wisner, Nebraska.  Three sister in-laws, Connie Broell and Mary Kay Kaufman of  Waterloo, Susan Schutt of Egan, Minnesota.

Preceded in death by: husband Wallace, May 18, 2005, and her parents Joseph and Ruth Drahos, son in-law Michael Costello, granddaughter, Marie Coffin and great-granddaughter, Miranda Davidson.  One sister, Helen Schmitz and one brother, Merle Drahos.

Services: at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, January 4, Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Fairbank, with burial in the Church Cemetery.  Visitation on Sunday, January 3, from 1:00 to  5:00 p.m. on Sunday, with rosary at 1:30 p.m. and Scripture Service at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Lavern Paul Zewiske, 77, of Cedar Falls formerly of rural Fairbank, died Monday, December 14, 2009 at the Windsor Care Center in Cedar Falls, after a lengthy illness.

Funeral services will be 10:30 AM. Thursday, December 17, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Fairbank with Father Harry Koelker officiating, burial will be in the I.C. Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by the Fairbank American Legion Fortsch-Duffy Post 552.

Public visitation will be from 3-7 PM on Wednesday December 16 at Woods Funeral Home.

Laverne was born January 12,1932 in rural Fairbank, the son of Paul and Josephine Ambrosy Zewiske. He was a High School graduate and competed 2 years of college. He then served 2 years in the Army from 1953-1955. Laverne had been a longtime Fairbank area farmer and carpenter before retiring.

Survivors- One sister Mardell (Robert) Crawford of Cedar Falls along with several nieces and nephews.

Preceeded in death- by his parents, one brother, Edwin and one sister, Theresa.

FAIRBANK-Ronald W.Klein, of Fairbank, died Wednesday, December 2, at St. Marys Hospital Rochester, MN. after a lengthy illness.

He was born April 12, 1941 in Lake City, Minnesota son of Ernest and Caroline (Anderson)Klein.

He married Margaret Trusty on July 15, 1982 in Lebanon Tennesee.

Survived by His wife Margaret 3 sons: Scott Shaw of Denver, Colorado; Paul(Anna)Shaw of Bartelsville, Oklahoma; Mike(Tami)Shaw of Iowa City, Iowa; 9 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren and one sister Joyce Murphy of Minnesota.

Preceeded in death by his parents.

Services 10:30 am Monday December 7 at First Baptist Church Oelwein Ia. with burial at Memorial Gardens Waterloo, Ia. Public visitation on Sunday December 6, 3:00 to 7:00 pm at Woods Funeral Home and 1 hour before services at the church.

Timothy Allen Joyce, 55, of Fairbank, died Friday, October 2, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home, Waterloo, of complications from Cancer.

He was born Oct 26, 1953, in Waterloo, Iowa, son of Richard and Delores (Graves) Joyce.

He married Julie Heiselman on July 26, 1991.

Survived by: wife, Julie, Fairbank; One daughter: Tina (Trent Pollock), Denver, Ia.; Two sons: Eric (Jenny) Joyce of Shakopee, MN., Nick Joyce of Waterloo, IA. 5 Grandchildren. His Mother Delores Joyce of Oelwein, IA. Four sisters: Patricia (Darrel) Bridges of Bondurant, Kathy (Joel) Steinmetz of Victor, Mary Jo (Jim) Even of Gilbertville, Janet Witzenburg of Altoona and 1 Brother, Dan Joyce of Loveland CO.

Preceded in death by: His father Richard Joyce, 2 brothers, Charles Joyce and Michael in infancy, one sister, Barb.

Services at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 6, 2009, Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Fairbank, with burial in I.C. Cementery, Fairbank.  Public visitation on Monday, October 5 from 3:00 to 8:00, 5:30 p.m. parish rosary, 7:00 pm scripture service.
