scan_pic0012FAIRBANK-Clara E. Peters, 83, died at her home in Phoenix, Arizona on Thursday, May 27, 2010. 

Clara was born in Fairbank, Iowa on September 9, 1926 to Tom and Eva (Bond) Harn.

She married Louis D. Peters on August 6, 1946.

Survived by: Teo daughters, Mary Carroll Dimmich of Phoenix, AZ., Eileen (James) Klemme of Phoenix , AZ., and one son, Jerry (Jane) Peters of Shenondah Junction, West Virginia.  Ten grandchildren, six great grandchildren and two sisters, Mary Miller of Fairbank and Dorothy Mersch of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by:  her husband Louis Peters, her parents and one sister, Eileen Corcoran.

Services: at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 19th at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Fairbank, with inurnment at the Church Cemetery. Family will greet people on Friday, June 18 from 4:00 to  8:00 p.m. at the Woods Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers please make donations to the family and one check will be made to Hospice of the Valley in Tempe, Arizona.

FAIRBANK-Jamie Lee Risse, of  Fairbank, died Sunday, May 30, 2010, at Covenant Medical Center, Waterloo, due to complications of cancer.

He was born July 1, 1972 at Iowa City, Iowa, son of James & Kathryn (Kruckenberg) Risse.

He married Jessica Marie Boehme on June 10, 1995 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Fairbank, Iowa.

He was a graduate from Wapsie Valley High School, Fairbank.  He attended NIACC in Mason City, Iowa for two years and then graduated from the University of Northern Iowa.  He was employed at American Color Imaging in Cedar Falls, Iowa.

Survived by: his wife, Jessica, three daughters, Haley, Hanna and Kate, one son, Kobe, all at home.  His parents, James and Kathy Risse, of Fairbank, Iowa.  His father in-law and mother in-law, Tom and Judy Boehme of Fairbank, Iowa. His maternal grandfather, Willis Kruckenberg of  Hampton, Iowa, paternal grandmother, Harriett Risse of Readlyn, Iowa.  Sister in-laws and brother in-laws, Michelle and Shawn Mullihan and Lewis and Chris Boehme, both of Fairbank, Iowa.  Also many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by: Grandmother, Marlys Kruckenberg and grandfather, Wilbur Risse.

Services: at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 2, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Fairbank,  with burial in the Church Cemetery.  Public Visitation from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.

WILLIAM (BILLY) ALLAN DeWALD

scan_pic0016LITTLETON-William (Billy) Allan DeWald, of Littleton, died Saturday, May 01,  at East Town Care Center, Independence, Iowa, of natural causes.

He was born on October 10, 1926 at Fairbank, Iowa, son of  Archie and Genevieve (Kane) DeWald.

Survived by: two sisters in-law, Delores DeWald Haily of Jesup, Iowa and Dixie DeWald of Chandler, Arizona.  Three brothers in-law, Kermit Chesmore of Rowley, Iowa Warren Nichols of West Sacremento, California and Joe Miller of Independence, Iowa , along with many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by: his parents and three sisters, and three brothers.

Services: 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 4, Woods Funeral Home, Fairbank, with burial in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery.  Military Honors will be Conferred by Fortsch-Duffy Post 552, American Legion.  Public visitation from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Woods Funeral Home on Monday, May 3rd.

Bill worked at John Deere Tractor Works in Waterloo for seven years, then at the Rath Packing Company and he also worked with his brother-in-law, Kermit Chesmore for Miller-Olson Bridge Construction and helped bult government bins for the USDA.

HERBERT H. ALBRECHT

scan_pic0015FAIRBANK- Herbert Henry Albrecht, 90, died Sunday, April 25, at Mercy Living Plus, Oelwein, Iowa.

He was born on October 3, 1919, to Henry and Lena (Bockholt) Albrecht.  He married Ilene Siggelkov on May 31, 1942, in Fairbank, Iowa.  They were married  56 years until her death on December 5, 1998.  On August 23, 1999, he married Coralene Lehmkuhl of Fairbank, Iowa.

Herb is survived by his wife and his four children, Jane Albrecht-Lee of Houston, Texas, Joyce (Rick) Trotter of Fairbank, Iowa, Ann (Don) Bunn of Maynard, Iowa and David (Kris Klingaman) Albrecht of Fairbank, Iowa.  Herb had nine grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.  He is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Gloria (Warren) Siggelkov of Tripoli, Iowa and Barbara (Herschel) Siggelkov of Independence, Iowa, many nieces and nephews and Coralene’s children and families.

Herb was preceded in death by his first wife, Ilene; two sisters, Alice (Henry) Reiter and Martha (Kenneth) Fox; brother, Loraine (Dolores): and son-in-law, Edward Albrecht-Lee.

Herb lived his entire life in the Fairbank area.  Following high school graduation he farmed until enlisting in the Army during WWII, serving nearly five years.  Herb returned to farming in 1945 until 1972.  He then sold Aid Association for Lutherans Insurance from 1972 to 1984 and was named Salesman of the Year in 1977.

Herb was an  active member of Lord of the Harvest Lutheran Church, was a 62 year American Legion member, was on the Fairbank and Wapsie Valley School Boards, Sunday School Superintendent and involved in many other activities.

Services- are 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 30, at the Lord of the Harvest Lutheran Church, Fairbank, I0wa.

Visitation-  from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m  on Thursday, April 29, at Woods Funeral Home, Fairbank, Iowa.

DALLAS D. BANTZ

scan_pic00131Fairbank:  Dallas Dana Bantz age 78 died Sunday April 25, 2010 at home from complications of COPD.

He was born on December 28, 1931 in Independence Ia. the son of Maurice and Pearl (Anderson) Bantz. He married JoAnne Schwake on March 14, 1952 in Maynard Ia.

Dallas served in the U.S. Navy for 4 years from 1951-1955. He then retired from Rath Packing after 30 years of employment.

Survived by: his wife JoAnne, 4 sons; Wendell Bantz of Plainfield, Wayne Bantz of Fairbank, Wayde (Theresa) Bantz of Dunkerton, Wes (Lori) Bantz of Fairbank, 2 Daughters; Dee Hesseltine of Iowa City, Jolene Bantz of Fairbank. 1 brother; Lester Bantz of Fairbank, 2 sisters; Dorie Foley and Bonnie Bantz of Arizona. 21 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: by his parents, 1 daughter Jeanne, 2 brothers; Carroll and Keith, 1 sister Shirley Roepke.

Visitation: Tuesday April 27 from 3-7 pm at the funeral home and for 1 hour before services at the church.

Services: Wednesday April 28 at 11:00 am at the Lord of the Harvest Lutheran Church, Fairbank, with burial in the Fairbank cemetery. With Military rites conferred by Fortsch-Duffy Post 552, Fairbank American Legion.

ELSIE V. MILLER

scan_pic00101Fairbank:  Elsie V. Miller died Friday April 23 at Mercy Hospital in Oelwein Ia. of natural causes.

She was was born June 24, 1924 in Waterloo the daughter of Ross and Anna (Carpenter) Habenicht. She married Melvin Miller in 1947 in Dubuque Ia. He preceeded her in death in 2003.

  Elsie worked for John Deere, then many years at Rath Packing until it closed in1984. Elsie and her husband also farmed north of Fairbank. She passionately loved her children and her grandchildren along with her many animals, especially her dog Blackie.

Survived by: 1 son Michael Miller of Fairbank, 3 daughters, Marlene (John) Higgins of Waterloo, Patricia Clement of Charles City and Susan Miller of Fairbank, 12 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild, and 1 brother Cecil Habenicht of Dike.

Preceeded in death by: Her parents, her husband, 2 sons: Gary Jones and Tim Miller, a grandson Edward Schares, 1 brother Vernon and 2 sisters, Seva and Genevieve.

Visitation: Sunday April 25 from 3 pm to 7 pm with a 4 pm parish rosary and a 7 pm scripture service.

Services: Monday April 26 @ 10:30 am I.C. Church in Fairbank with burial in I.C. Cemetery.

She was born July 21, 1932 at Waterloo, Iowa, daughter of Edward Henry and Irene Sophia (Staack) Hartman.

She married Melvin Hesse on September 10, 1950 , at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Klinger, Iowa.

Survived by: her children and their spouses: Ivan Hesse of Fairbank, Iowa, Mike (Glenda) Hesse of Fairbank, Iowa, Nancy (Rick) Happel, of  Dunkerton, Iowa, Becky (Doug) Lindsay, Masonville, Iowa, Lonny (Barb) Hesse, Dianna (John) Griese and Brian Hesse, all of Fairbank, of Fairbank, Iowa. a daughter in-law, Cindee (John) Lichter of Galva, Iowa. Twenty-Five grandchildren and many great grandchildren.  Two brother, Duane (Joyce) Hartman of Fairbank, Iowa and Loren (Linda) Hartman of Flordia.  A brother in-law, Virgil Hesse of Waterloo, Iowa.

Preceded in death by:  her husband, Melvin on April 12, 1998 , a son, William ,and a sister in-law, Lois Hesse.

Services:  at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 6, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Fairbank, with burial in the Fairbank Cemetery.  Public Visitation from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, at the funeral home, and from 9:30 to 10:30 at the church before funeral.

Janola was owner and secretary of Hesse Trucking, Fairbank, Iowa.

scan_pic0007FAIRBANK-Mark Warren Duffy, of Fairbank, died Monday, March 29, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home,  in Waterloo, Iowa.

He was born October 29, 1955 in Oelwein, Iowa, son of Jack L and Dorothy E.(Kane) Duffy.

He married Nina Myers at Fairbank on November 24, 1989.

Survived by: his wife, Nina, of Fairbank, parents, Jack and Dorothy Duffy  of Fairbank. Four sisters, Clarice (Steve) Levey, Lindstrom, Minnesota, Carol (Mike) Smith of Cedar Falls, Iowa, Nancy (Rich) Wallace of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Norma (Kevin) Westendorf of Readlyn, Iowa.  Four brothers, Mike (Judy) Duffy, Tim (Jeanette) Duffy, Tony (Sherry) Duffy all of Fairbank, Iowa and Ted (Susan) Duffy of LaCrescent, Minnesota. Numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews

Preceded in death by: his grandparents and two nephews, Josh Menuey and Christopher Wallace.

Services: at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 1, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Fairbank with burial in the Church Cemetery.  Public visitation from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, at the funeral home.

Mark was employed by Rockwell Automation in Sumner, Iowa for 15 years.

Harold “Bud” J. Ferguson

scan_pic00052Harold “Bud” J. Ferguson died Tuesday March 11 at Allen Hospital in Waterloo from complications of cancer.

He was born May 11, 1940 in Aurora Ill. the son of Harold J. and Martha (Klemp) Ferguson. He married Maxine Bohle and they later divorced, he then married Linda Pries on September 20, 1986 in Sumner. Bud served in the U.S. Army from 1963-1965. He then worked for Shirey Co. and from there went to John Deere and worked there for 32 years retiring in 1995. After his retirement he drove truck for Hawkeye Tile, Gray Transportation and most recently up until his illness Kane Farms. He was a member of St. Peters Lutheran Church of Oran, Fairbank American Legion and UAW Local 838 of Waterloo.

Bud is survived by his wife Linda, a daughter Tracy (Eliott) White of Clayton Wi. a granddaughter, Brittany, a grandson, Brent; 2 sisters, Velma Jean (Milton) Jones of Hawkeye and Velda (Dale) Lynch of Sumner; 2 Brothers, Garold Ferguson of Sumner and LaVern (Debbie) Ferguson of Moline Ill. Along With several nieces and nephews.

He was preceeded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be Thursday March 11 from 4:00 until 8:00 pm at the funeral home and for one hour before services at the church.

Services will be Friday March 12 at 10:30 am. at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Oran with burial at Grove Hill Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by Fortsch-Duffy Post 552 of Fairbank.

She was born May 11, 1925, at Fairbank, Iowa, daughter of Adam A and Cecilia (Weber) Buzynski.

She married John Kerns, on August 24, 1945 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Fairbank.

Survived by:  Five daughters, Kay (Bob) Frame, Connie (Jack) Rechkemmer of Fairbank, Jane (Mike) Heineman, Readlyn, Julie (Scott) Ceaglske, Cedar Falls, Carolyn (Paul) Lingard, Macon, Missouri.  Three sons, Gary (Carol) Pocahontas, Arkansas, Bob (Kathy) Kerns, Jacksonville, Flordia, Craig (Laddie) Kerns, Fairbank. Twenty-Three grandchildren.  Two brothers, Loras Buzynski, Oelwein, Iowa, John (Eleanor) Buzynski, Fairbank, Iowa.  One sister in-law, Shirley Buzynski, Fairbank, Iowa.

Preceded  in death by: her husband, John, March 29, 1984, a son, John, in infancy,  her parents, son-in-law, Bruce Bockholt, grandson in-law, Mark Eicholz, two great grandchildren, Kelcy and Drake Frame, one brother, Harold Buzynski.

Services: at 10:30 a.m. on Monday,  March 1, 2010, Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Fairbank, with burial in the Church Cemetery.  Public visitation from 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home with a parish rosary at 3:30 p.m. and Scripture Service at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
