Fairbank: Dorothy Margaret Elliott Phillips age 98 died on August 8, 2012 at Maumelle Health Center in Maumelle, Arkansas.

She was born on June 22, 1914 in Waterloo, Ia. the daughter of Perry George Elliott and Nona Ruth McIntyre. She married Kyle Phillips on March 18, 1936 in Waterloo, Ia.

Services; Graveside services will be held on Thursday August 30 @ 11:00 am at Fairbank Cemetery in Fairbank, Iowa, there will be no visitation

Survived by; a daughter-in-law Carolyn Phillips of Casper, Wyoming, five grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Preceeded by; her parents, three infant brothers, her husband and a son, Donald Phillips

KARLA GAE MOULDS

Fairbank-Karla Gae Moulds died Sunday, July 22, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo.

She was born on January 14, 1947 in Waterloo, Iowa the daughter of Gerhard and Frances (Newson) Kuenstling.

She maried Robert E. Moulds on September 7, 1968 in Fairbank. 

She graduated from Dunkerton High School in 1965 and University of Iowa in 1969.  She taught in the Highland Community Schools, Cedar Falls School District and retired from Wapsie Valley Community Schools in 2000.

Survived by; her husband, Robert.  One daughter; Niki of Dunkerton.   Three sons; Brian (Susan) of Dunkerton, Dustin (Angie) of Readlyn and Danny (Andrea) of Cedar Falls.  Ten grandchildren.  Two brothers; Kevin Kuenstling and Kenny (Deanne) Kuenstling of Dunkerton.  One sister; Karen (Wayne) Faust of Vista, California.

Preceded by: her parents.

Services: Thursday, July 26 at 10:30 at S. John’s Lutheran Church Bennington, rural Dunkerton.  Visitation on Wednesday from 3:00 t 7:00 p.m. and one hour before services at the church.

In Lieu of flowers memorials to Juvenile Diabets Foundation or National Breast Cancer Foundation.

DOROTHY M. JENSON MERSCH

Fairbank-Dorothy M. Jenson Mersch died Thursday, June 14 at Ravenwood Nursing and Rehab in Waterloo, Iowa of natural causes.

She was born on May 28, 1915 at Fairbank, Iowa.  The daughter of Tom and Eva (Bond) Harn.

She graduated from Immaculate Conception Catholic High in Fairbank. 

She married Lee (Jake) Jenson on June 30, 1936, he died in 1944.  She married L.D. Mersch in 1982, they laterdivorced.

Survived by: a son, George (Norma) Jenson of Cedar Falls. Three grandchildren and eleven  great grandchildren.

Prececed by: her husband, Lee (Jake) Jenson, a son, Donald Jenson, a grandson, Greg Jenson.  Her parents, a brother George Harn, three sisters and brother in-laws, Eilene and Harold Corcoran, Clara & Louis Peters, and Mary and Charles Miller. 

Services: Monday, June 18 at 10:30 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Fairbank, with visitation on Sunday at the funeral home from 4:00 to 7:00 pm, with rosary at 4:00 and Scripture at 7:00 pm.

Inurnament at a later date at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery, Barclay.

BEVERLY ANN KANE

Readlyn- Beverly Ann Kane died Friday, May 25 at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo of natural casuse.

She was born April 29, 1940 in Vigo County, Indiana, the daughter of Adrian Pine and Norma Hux Minor.

She married Roger Kane on July 2, 1960 in Fairbank, Ia.  They had been married 51 years and made their home in Klinger for 46 years.

Survived by: her husband, Roger.  One daughter: Trilby (Dan) Waschkat of Waverly.  Three sons: Vic (Jean) Kane of Oelwein; Lester (Shelbi Hickman) Kane of Klinger and Dexter (Robin) Kane of Troy, Illinois. Nine grandchildren: Isaac, Hallie, Sam, Alyssa, Tyler, Ciara, Spencer, Dori and Levi.  Three great grandchildren: Zoey, Lainee and Alexis.   Eighteen brothers and sisters, many nieces, nephews and friends.

Preceded: by her parents, one sister and three brothers.

Services: Monday, May 28 at 4:00 p.m at the Funeral Home, with visitation from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.  before services.

Inurnment: Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Fairbank, Iowa.

Oelwein: Donald Richard Ricklefs died Thursday May 10 at Mercy Living Plus in Oelwein Ia. of natural causes.

He was born November 20, 1957 in Broomfield, Colorado. The son of Richard and Francis (Boland) Ricklefs.

Survived by: one brother David Ricklefs of Hartand, WI. four sisters; Marcia (Simeon) Tauber of Arcada CA. Sherry (Garth) Balthazor of Murrieta, CA. Vicky (Randy) Olson of Bend, OR. Diane Parker of Vinton, an aunt; Rosemary Boland of Hazleton an uncle; Delbert Ricklefs of Central City along with many nieces and nephews.

Preceded by: his parents and grandparents and a nephew; Ricky Balthazor

Services: Saturday May 12 at 10:30 am at the Funeral Home, with visiation from 9:00 am to the time of service.

Burial: Immaculate Conception Cemetery Fairbank, Ia.

FRANCES K. (TREBON) ALLEN

Fairbank-Frances K. (Trebon) Allen of Fairbank, died Thursday, March 29, at Covenant Medical Center, Waterloo, Iowa.

She was born on October 29, 1935 at LaPote City, Iowa the daughter of Charles and Nellie Border Buck.

Frances graduated from East High in Waterloo in 1953.

She married Robert Trebon on November 27, 1954 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Fairbank, Iowa.  Robert proceded her in death in 2004.  She later married Dean Allen on January 7, 2011 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Fairbank, Iowa

She had been employed at Schares Food Mart in Jesup for 31 years before retiring.

Survived by: husband, Dean.  Four daughters: Kay (Pat) Ledesma of Fairbank, Iowa, Colleen (Terry) Nagel of Jesup, Iowa, Char (Rick) Colby of LaCrescent, Minnesota, and Susy (Brad) Buzynski of Maynard, Iowa. Four sons: Rick (Julie) Trebon of  Wadena, Iowa, Chuck (Connie) Trebon of Washburn, Iowa, Don (Julie) Trebon of Waterloo, Iowa and Dave Trebon of Jesup, Iowa. Four step-daughters: Mary Kay (Dennis) Frost and Karen (Al) Matthews both of Fairbank, Iowa, Pam (Gary) Miller of Rosemount, Minnesota and Carol (Mike) Tilley of Bloomington, Indiana.  28 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren. Three brothers: Larry (Kathy) Buck of Independence, Iowa, Verle (Bonnie) Buck of Elk Run Heights, Iowa and Bill (Sandy) Buck of Texas.  One sister: Janet Rigdon of Flordia.

Preceded in death by: her parents, her first husband Robert Trebon, a grandson, Jordan Trebon, a great-granddaughter, Natalie Trebon.  Three brothers: Arthur, Merlin and Orlin Buck.

Services: at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, April 2, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Fairbank with burial in the church cemetery.  Public visitation on Sunday, April 1, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home, with rosary at 4:00 p.m.

Fairbank- Anita M. Weltzin of Fairbank died Wednesday February 22 at Allen Hospital in Waterloo of compications of C.O.P.D.

She was born onMay 3, 1939 in Baltimore Md. the daughter of Charles and Anna Mae (Bevins) Perry.

She married Merle Weltzin on March 2, 1974 in Chicago, Ill. They later moved to Jesup, Ia. to raise their three daughters and after that they moved to Anita’s current home in Fairbank.

She is survived by her 3 daughters; Denise (Randy) Miller of Waterloo, Anita Weltzin and Angie Weltzin of Omaha Ne. 2 granddaughters; Stephany Weltzin whom they raised and Christina Weltzin, 4 grandsons; Travis Schmitt, Michael Weltzin, Steven Stoner and Tyler Stoner, 2 great-grandchildren Lillian and Gemma, 2 step-grandchildren; Miranda and Andrew Miller, 1 sister Sandra Dolan of Shreveport La. and special friends Doug Stoner, Michelle Neverman and Kelli McNamara

Preceeded in death by- Her parents, her husband Merle, a son John Riccio, 2 brothers Ronald Perry and Robert Perry and a brother-in-law Ralph Dolan.

Services will be at 10:30 am on Saturday February 25 at Woods Funeral Home with burial in the Fairbank Cemetery. Public visitation will be on Friday February 24 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm and for 1 hour before the sevices on Saturday, all at the funeral home.

MARION T. MEIER

Fairbank- Marion T. Meier, age 87 passed away of cardiac arrest on Friday, January 6, 2012 at Mercy Hospital in Oelwein, Iowa. Visitation will be at Woods Funeral Home  on Sunday, January 8 from 4 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be on Monday. January 9 at 10:30 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church in Fairbank.

Marion was born on September 4, 1924, near Waverly, the daughter of Martin B. and Lula G. (Ingersoll) Anhalt. She graduated from Waverly High School. On September 2, 1946 she was united in marriage to William H. Meier at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Waverly. They lived in the Waverly area for many years and moved to Oran in 1953. They operated the Oran Cremery. Marion moved to Fairbank in 1975. She worked as a cook for the Wapsie Valley Community Schools in Oran and Fairbank, until retiring in 1993. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church, church choir and the American Legion Auxillary.

Marion took great pride in her ten children, many grandchildren and friends. Get-togethers with family and friends brought her much joy. She enjoyed gardening, baking, crocheting, playing cards and watching sports. Marion had a spirited personality, enjoyed stories and jokes and was a devoted friend to many.

She is survived by her children: John (Darlene) Meier of Hazleton, Joann (Dennis) Covert of Davenport, David (Barbara) Meier of Decorah, Dianne (Bob) Clark of Dorchester, Patricia Curley of  Fairbank, Annette (Kevin) Niebuhr of Dunkerton, Madonna (Brian) Welsh of Fairbank, Michele (Alan) Blekeberg of Ridgeway and Chris Meier of Greenville Wi. 25 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Marion is also survived by sisters-in-law, Lelah Anhalt, Marjorie Anhalt, Delores (Anhalt) Hassman, Esther Meier, Bonnie Harris and brother-in-law Paul Meier.

Marion was preceded in death by her husband William in 1975, her daughter Karla Meier in 2011, one great-grandson, her parents and siblings, Helen Eighmey, Grace Anhalt, Martin (Bob) Anhalt, John Anhalt, Beatrice Biermann, William Anhalt and Paul Anhalt.

LORRAIN MARGARET LITTLE FOSTER

Fairbank– Lorrain Margaret Little Foster, 76, of Fairbank died on Sunday, December 18, 2011 at Sumner Memorial Hospital, Sumner, of a lengthy illness.

She was born on September 18, 1935, Dubuque County, Dubuque, Iowa, daughter of Lawrence Peter and Loretta Margaret (Hazer) Davis.

She married Earl Little on June 2, 1956, he died in 1991 .  She married her second husband Jim Foster, he died in 2003.

She was a waitress at the Sportsman Club in Oelwein for many years, worked at the Bel-Mar in Fairbank.  Owned and operated Ma’s Place in Fairbank from 1979-1988.

Survived by: one daughter, Janann (Chris) Rabe of Highlands, Co., three sons: Tom (Nancy) Little of Topeka, KS., Loras (Denise) Little and Ken (Lamar) Little, both of Fairbank.  One step-son: Chad Foster of Sumner, two step-daughters: Wendy Holt of Sumner and Amy Stevens of Indiana.  Ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by:  her first husband, Earl Little in 1991, her second husband, Jim Foster in 2003.  One son Ron Little and two brothers, Jerry Davis and Donald Davis and her father Lawrence.

Services: at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, December21, at Immaculate conception Catholic church, Fairbank with burial in the Church Cemetery.  Public visitation on Tuesday from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. with Parish Rosary at 4:00.

William N. Kerns

Fairbank: William Nicholas Kerns died December 7, 2011 at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo Ia. from complications of kidney cancer which resulted in a blood clot.

He was born on May 31, 1956 the son of William and Ruby (Baldwin) Kerns in Oelwein Ia.

He married Brenda Judisch on October 7, 1978 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Fairbank.

Bill was employed at Woods Construction for 13 years and was then employed at Wapsie Valley Schools for the next 13 years. He was employed for the next 12 years until his death at Mercy Hospital with Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare.

He is survived by his wife Brenda, his mother Ruby Lahner of Oelwein, his Brother Larry (Sandy) Loban of Dunkerton.

He is preceded in death by his father Bill Kerns Sr.

Services at 11:00 am on Saturday December 10 at Zion Lutheran Church in Oelwein, with burial in the Fairbank Cemetery.  Public visitation on Friday December 9 from 5:00-7:00 pm and 1 hour before services at the church.
