Joan Moulds PicFairbank: Joan Carol Moulds age 79 passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, January 31st 2015.  She was born October 6th 1935 the daughter of Kyle and Iva (Beckner) Keniston in Oelwein Iowa.  Joan married Charles D. Moulds May 10th 1957 in Elkader Iowa.  Joan enjoyed cooking, as did everyone else enjoy her cooking.  She also loved her grandchildren and her animals, especially her dog Reba. She practiced her faith on Sundays at St. John’s Lutheran Church.

Survived by: Her husband Charles, one son; Ronald (Kelle), two daughters; LaDell (Jim) McCabe and Susan (Kelly) Ryan, five grandchildren; Michael Ryan, Elizabeth (Ivan) Escobedo, Rachael (Patrick) Murray, Keith (Kate) Ryan, and Staci Moulds, six great grandchildren, two sisters;  Kay (Walt) Schwartz and Mary (Eldon) Marting.

Preceded by; Her parents, one brother James Keniston and one sister Donna Jo Keniston in infancy.

Services; 10:30 am Wednesday,  February 4th at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Fairbank.

Visitation; 9:00-10:30 am on Wednesday at the church.

Interment; Fairbank Cemetery, Fairbank.

Mary Sue Beierschmitt

Mary Sue Beierschmitt pictureFairbank: Mary Sue Beierschmitt age 65 passed away Thursday, January 29, 2015 at ABCM Rehabilitation Center in Independence after a brief illness. She was born on June 11, 1949 the daughter of Ralph and Frances “Billie” (Barlow) Beierschmitt in Independence. Mary Sue attended elementary school at Immaculate Conception Catholic School in Fairbank, she then attended River Hills School in Waterloo, there she received he GED. Mary Sue loved going to work at Goodwill Industries, she worked there for more than 30 years. For the past eight years she enjoyed going to the Davis Adult Day Center in Independence. She also loved to travel and she visited many different states in the U.S. including Hawaii.

Survived by: three brothers; James Beierschmitt of Marshaltown, Don (Brenda) Beierschmitt of Jesup and Bill (Mary) Beierschmitt of Fairbank, one sister-in-law; Judy Beierschmitt of Quinlan, TX, nieces and nephews; Bob (Caryn) Beierschmitt, Dan (Susan) Beierschmitt, Jeff Beierschmitt, Tom (Serena) Beierschmitt, Cindy Simmons, Susie (Johnny) Williamson, LuAnne Aaron, Edward (Michele)Beierschmitt, Brandon (Erin) Beierschmitt, Nicole (Jeramy) Siems, Heather (Jason) Brodie, Eric (Carissa) Beierschmitt and Kathy Beierschmitt along with 34 great nieces and nephews and 11 great-great nieces and nephews.

Preceded by: her parents, three brothers; Robert, John and Howard, two nieces and two nephews.

Services: 10:30 am Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at St. Anthanasius Catholic Church in Jesup

Visitation: 4-7 pm Monday, February 2, 2015 at Woods Funeral Home and for one hour before services at the church on Tuesday.

Rosary: 4:00 pm on Monday at the funeral home.

Interment: Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery, Fairbank.

Galen “Duff” Frances Duffy

Galen Duffy pic 1Jesup: Galen Duffy age 54 passed away Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at Davita Dialysis Center in Waterloo following a lengthy illness. He was born September 23, 1960 the son of Aloysius and Patricia (Cavanaugh) Duffy in Waterloo. Galen grew up on a farm southwest of Fairbank and attended Wapsie Valley Schools graduating in 1979. In 1991 he met Bonnie Hill and they were married on September 2, 2006 in Waterloo. Galen worked as a CNC machinist for 20 years, he was a member of the Fairbank Jaycees and was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church also in Fairbank.

Survived by: his wife, two sons; Derek Bate and fiancée Stephanie Lee of Waterloo and Curtis Bate of Jesup, three grandchildren; Riley, Anika and Madison, one brother; Pat (Sherry) Duffy of Erie, IL, two sisters; Collen (Darold) Matthias of Sumner and Kathy (Duffy) Volker of Fairbank.

Preceded by: his parents, one brother; Dennis Duffy, one sister; Sherry Weber and one niece; Carrie Matthias.

Services: 10:30 am. Monday, January 26 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Fairbank.

Visitation: 4:00-7:00 pm. on Sunday, January 25 at Woods Funeral Home in Fairbank and for one hour before services, Monday at the funeral home.

Mary Ann Ryan picReadlyn: Mary Ann Ryan age 60 passed away on Thursday January 1, 2015 at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer. Mary Ann was born July 26, 1954 in Pocahontas the daughter of Harold and Jean (Reis) Reigelsberger. She married Michael Ryan on June 5, 1976 in Humboldt, IA. Mary Ann worked many years in the legal profession and in the banking industry assisting clients with legal and financial needs, she worked in Ames, Springfield, IL, Waterloo and Cedar Falls during her career.

Survived by: her father, her husband, two sons; Adam Ryan of Minneapolis, MN and Aaron (Vicky) Ryan of Readlyn, one daughter; Megan Ryan of Ankeny, two sisters; Carolyn Morgan of Minneapolis, MN and Delores (George) Pomeroy of Dakota City, one brother; Dale Reigelsberger of Humboldt.

Preceded by: her mother; Jean Reigelsberger and a brother; Johnny Reigelsberger.

Services: 10:30 am Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Fairbank.

Visitation: from 4-7 pm Monday, January 5 at Woods Funeral Home and for 1 hour before services on Tuesday also at the funeral home.

Helen Gallup pic3Fairbank: Helen Leil Gallup age 99 passed away on Monday December 29, 2014 at Mercy Living Plus in Oelwein, IA. She was born January 23, 1915 in Waterloo, IA the daughter of Lee and Ethel (Lent) Place. Helen married Leroy (Roy) Gallup June 24, 1939 in Lancaster, MO. Helen and Roy raised their family on a small farm south of Fairbank. Helen dedicated her life to educating elementary age children she started in a one room country school near Klinger from there she taught in Hazleton and Fairbank eventually she retired from Wapsie Valley Community Schools in Fairbank.

Survived by: a daughter Glenda (Jim) Kaufman of Fairbank, a son Robert (Patricia) Gallup of Palm Harbor, FL, eight grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren

Preceded by: her parents, her husband, one son James Gallup, two sisters; Vernita Kay and Lorraine Artimovich and a granddaughter; Renee Gallup

Celebration of Life: 10:30 am Friday, January 23, 2015 at United Methodist Church in Fairbank.

Barbara Kastli picFairbank: Barbara Kastli age 74 passed away Friday, November 14 at Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo after a lengthy battle with cancer. Barbara was born April 7, 1940 in Lawler, IA the daughter of James and Coleta (Brannon) Boyle. She married James Kastli March 23, 1968 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Waterloo.

Survived by: her husband James, a daughter; Kelly and her husband William Pond of West Des Moines and a son; Sean and his wife Jennifer Kastli of West Des Moines along with two grandchildren; Addyson and Griffin Kastli.

Preceded by: her parents

Services: 10:30 am Monday, November 17 at Immaculate Conception Church, Fairbank.

Visitation: Sunday, November 17 from 4-7 pm at the funeral home and also for one hour before services Monday  at the funeral home.

Rosary: Sunday at 4:30 pm

Thomas Harn Pic 2Fairbank: Thomas William Harn passed away Saturday, October 11, 2014 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, MN after a lengthy illness. He was born June 24,. 1958 in Waterloo the son of Maurice and Margaret (Jasper) Harn. Tom attended and graduated from Columbus High School in Waterloo. Tom worked as an auto detailer for 20 years at Reed Cadillac and most recently Rydell Chevrolet both in Waterloo until he was unable because of health reasons.

Survived by: Mari Friedrich and their daughter Samantha (Jason) Saylor of Fairbank, a granddaughter; Savanna, his father Maurice Harn of Waterloo, three brothers; Joe (Mary Beth) Harn of Olathe. KS, Mike (Beth Ann) Harn of Finchford, Jim (Kelli) Harn of Waterloo, five sisters; Barb (Mike) Varco of Waterloo, Kate (Ken) Burr of Papillion, NE, Theresa Harn and special friend Bruce of Mansfield, TX, Diane McDade of Waterloo and Deb (Pat) O Malley of Omaha along with many other family members.

Olive Gade pic Fairbank: Olive Mae Grantham Gade age 93 passed away Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at the Vinton Lutheran Home in Vinton, IA. She was born on November 16, 1920 in Crookston, NE the daughter of August and Anna (Giese) Detgen. Olive married Henry Grantham, February 11, 1937 in Valentine, NE, Henry passed away September 25, 1961, she married William (Bill) Gade, May 6 ,1967 they resided in Sumner until July 1, 1972 when they moved to Fairbank, Bill passed away August 20, 2000. Olive spent the majority of her life as a homemaker and was also an avid gardener.

Survived by: One son, Russell (Lori) Grantham of De Soto, three daughters; Joyce Bratten, Marilyn (Robert) Condry both of Vinton and Barbara (Glenn) Hodgson of Dubuque, 25 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren, two daughters-in-law; Karen Grantham of Fairbank and Clarice Grantham of Harcourt.

Preceded by: Her parents, her first and second husband, two sons; Robert Grantham and Howard Grantham along with two sisters; Alice Fay and Esther Fay.

Earl L. Bartholomew

Earl Bartholomew picDunkerton: Earl Bartholomew age 94 passed away peacefully at his home, Monday September 15, 2014. He was born September 15, 1920 in Dunkerton, the son of Dan and Iva (Jenson) Bartholomew, he attended school in Dunkerton graduating in 1938. Earl was a veteran of World War II he was an airplane mechanic in the U.S. Army Air Corps. Earl married Irene Smith in 1941 she preceded him in death in 1980, he then married Norma Goeller in 1987 and she passed away on August 5, 2014. Earl farmed in his early years and later was a rural mail carrier retiring in 1984, he was also a bus driver for Dunkerton Community Schools and he retired from that in 1994. He was also a longtime member of the Dunkerton Volunteer Fire Department, serving as chief for a period of time. Earl was also a member of the Peter Kress Post 636 American Legion for 64 years.

Survived by: four daughters; Marcia (Rich) Young of Dubuque, Elaine Clark, Jeanette (Jim) Grady both of Waterloo and Lois Bartholomew of Burlington WI, two sons-in-law; Roger Lenz of Webster City and John Riordan of Westgate,two step-daughters; Judy (Mel) Neil of Fairbank and Cindy (Tom) Hagenow of Readlyn, one step-son Jerry Goeller (Dawn Johnson) of Fairbank, one sister-in-law; Nonnie Bartholomew of Dunkerton, 24 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, eight step-grandchildren and 16 step-great-grandchildren.

Preceded by: his parents, his first wife Irene and his second wife Norma, two daughters; Dee Lenz and Leta Riordan, one grandson, Casey Dangelser and one brother; Gordon Bartholomew.

Leota Egan picFairbank: Leota Egan age 77 passed away on Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at the Good Neighbor Society in Manchester, IA. She was born December 6, 1937 in rural Arlington, IA the daughter of Logan and Lucille (Smith) Beltz. Leota first attended country school and later went to Arlington School, she graduated from Arlington in 1955. She worked as a clerk at Jewel Tea and at Carl Mikes Grocery Store in Oelwein after that she worked at Iowa Gas and Electric as a secretary. In 1969 she married Dan Egan, they made their home in the Westgate, Oran area. Dan preceded her in death in 2007.

Survived by: a sister; Lauretta (Darwin) Jones of Arlington, along with several Nieces, Nephews and Aunts.
