Jerry Dean Goeller passed away January 28, 2022 at UnityPoint Allen Memorial Hospital. Jerry was born in Oelwein on June 29, 1951, to parents Wendell and Norma (Heidt) Goeller. He attended and graduated from Dunkerton Community Schools in 1969. After graduation Jerry attended Hawkeye School of Technology for Tool and Die. He then went to work for John Deere in Waterloo. Jerry worked there for 31 years, retiring in 2003. He married Vicki Alberts and to this marriage three children were born. They later divorced. To almost everyone, Jerry was known by his nickname “Goofy” and he was just fine with that. For the last 22 years Goofy has spent his life with his life partner, Dawn Johnson. Together they have made many great friends and memories. He enjoyed playing softball and golf in his younger years. He also was a fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes, enjoyed watching movies on Netflix and was always up for an occasional trip to meet friends at his favorite Bar and Grill, Costa’s. He will be missed by so many people just because of how he treated everyone like a friend. Jerry is survived by his life partner, Dawn Johnson, his daughter, Tiffanie (Chris) Michels, two sons; Joshua (Amanda) Goeller and Jesse (Jennifer) Goeller, eleven grandchildren; Rylee, Carter, Mason, Charlie, Donna, Jacob, Josie, Levi, Micah, Madison and Zoey, two sisters; Judy (Mel) Neil and Cindy (Tom) Hagenow along with several nieces and nephews and their spouses. He was preceded in death by his parents.

We are so lucky to have met you guys so many years ago. We have definitely made some great memories and will always cherish them. Jerry was a gentleman with a big heart and his laughter was one of a kind. May the memories you have bring you comfort in the days ahead. We are sending you our heartfelt condolences and many, many hugs.
    Much love,
Jason, Morgin, Alexia and Cooper Jones

  2. My sincerest condolences to the family and friends of Gerry. I am sorry I won’t make the visitation due to my work schedule. R.I.P. SIR!

  3. Dawn and family…

We are struggling to put into words what this man meant to us.

He was funny, witty, kind, caring and always had a smile on his face. He was the life of the party and the times we had together will never be touched by anything we will do in our lives without him.

Our hearts are broken and we will always keep a piece of Goofy tucked in our hearts forever.

We are sending our love, hugs and prayers to Dawn, Tiffanie, Joshua and Jesse and their families on the loss and the void that they will feel from this day forward.

I know the tears won’t stop for a while and the heart will never be mended properly but please remember all the memories you had with this bigger than life man…he had a knack for drawing people in and then you were hooked on his “Goofyisms”…ones that will never be forgotten or repeated by anyone. (especially his cowboy hat and his singing)

Jerry….from our hearts, both Bruce and I are devastated. We have reminisced over and over the times we had in Cancun, Puerta Vallarta, Playa del Carmen, Pennsylvania, the phone calls, the messages…you touched our hearts so deeply and to have a friendship like we had with you and Dawn is not defined by the times we were together but by the bond that formed in our times together as friends.

Please know that you are all in our thoughts and prayers and know that this wonderful man will never be forgotten by those that he loved and who loved him.

    Love,

    Bruce and CANCUN Patti Tewksbury
    Laceyville PA

  4. Dawn, I am so sorry for your loss.
    We are thinking of you.
Big hug…Wendy and the boys (Nate & Kyle) from the Netherlands.

  5. Tiffanie, Chris and family: your church is praying for all of you. May God’s peace and comfort be a source of strength. Pastor Beth and SJB.

  6. Sorry we were out of town for Jerry’s services….he was a one of a kind guy…always had a smile on his face…sending sincerest sympathy to all.
