Daphine Ruth Lundt

Daphine Ruth Lundt passed away on December 31, 2018 at the Oelwein Health Care Center following a long-term illness.

Daphine was born on April 12, 1933 the daughter of Ed & Helen (Wehling) Oltrogge. She was baptized, confirmed and married all at Zion Lutheran Church in Readlyn. She graduated from Readlyn High School in 1952 and attended Wartburg College where she received her teaching certificate in 1954. She later attended Upper Iowa College where she received her BS in Elementary Education in 1967. Daphine was united in marriage to Donald Lundt on May 27, 1956 and together they raised three children. She was a teacher, farm wife, and homemaker. Daphine was an active member of St. Peter Lutheran Church and enjoyed participating in the Ladies’ Aid group. She also enjoyed crocheting, reading, and traveling. Daphine collected recipes from the Open Line radio show and as well as collecting angel figurines. She truly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and spoiling them with treats.

Daphine is preceded in death by her husband, Donald Lundt; her parents, Helen & Ed Oltrogge; and two sisters, Karen Oltrogge & Iris Wilhelm. Daphine is survived by her son, Daniel (Cindy) Lundt, two daughters; Diane (Timothy) Johnson, Dawn (Kevin) Higgins, five grandchildren; Megan (James) Stammeyer, Matthew Johnson, Sam Lundt, Jacob Higgins and Alana Higgins, one step-granddaughter, one great-grandchild and two step-great-grandchildren, four sisters; Ilene Blume of Tripoli, Doris (Eugene) Hyman of Waterloo, Susan (Gaylen) Rundle of Oelwein and Jane (John) Cocuzzi of San Angelo, Texas, two brothers; Delbert (LaVonne) Oltrogge of Readlyn and Phillip (Sherry Gable) Oltrogge of Waterloo.

Visitation and funeral services will be held on January 13, 2019 at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Oran, Iowa. Visitation will be from 1:30-3:30 PM with funeral services will at 4:00 PM.

Interment will be at St. Peter Cemetery, Bremer County, Iowa.

 In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to St. Peter Lutheran Church.
