scan_pic00162Fairbank-Donald Charles Menuey, 79 of Fairbank, died Tuesday, August 31, at ManorCare Health Center in Waterloo, of a lengthy illness.

He was born July 31, 1931 at Zwingle, Iowa , son of Paul and Helena (Brown) Menuey.

He married Ramona C. Toussaint on July 27, 1953 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Sumner, Iowa.

Donald retired from Rath Paking Company in Waterloo after working there 35 years. He was a lifetime farmer and after his retirement from Raths he was employed at Bachman Tool and Die in Independence.

Survived by: his wife, Ramona of Fairbank, fours sons, Randy (Kim) Menuey, Fairbank, Steve (Connie) Britt, Tony (Jo) Menuey, Dewar, Kerry ( Melanie) Menuey, Fairbank.  Four daughters, Sandra (Mike) Tagtow, Fairbank, Diane (Garry) Damon, Dewar, Becky (Dave) Acker, Waverly, Brenda Buzynski, Waterloo.  Thirteen grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren.  Two sisters, Helen Ridenour, Manchester and Marlys (Archie) Miller, Independence.

Preceded in death by:  his parents, Paul and Helena Menuey, one grandson, Joshua Menuey, two brothers, Robert  Menuey and Kenneth Menuey.  One sister, Velma Benfante.

Services: at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, September 3, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Fairbank, with burial in the Church Cemetery.  Public visitation from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 2, at the funeral home.  There will be a rosary by the Fairbank Knights of Columbus  Council   NO. 11161 at 6:00 and a Scripure Service at 7:00 p..

ETHELYN D. LEHMKUHL

ethylyn1MARION-Ethelyn D. Lehmkuhl, of Marion, formerly of Fairbank and Waterloo area, died Saturday, August 21, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids.

She was born December 12, 1920 at Sumner, Iowa daughter of Ozro and Ella  (Bowers) Littell.

After graduating from Upper Iowa University, she taught at Fairbank Elementary School.  She married Wilbert (Webb) Lehmkuhl in San Diego, California on June 13, 1942. During the war they both worked at Rohr Aircraft in California.  After the war they returned to Fairbank  and operated Lehmkuhl Hardware in Fairbank.  During the 1960s, she taught junior high English in Dunkerton.  After retirement she played piano for 19 years at VonMaur in College Square Mall in Cedar Falls.

Survived by: son, Rande (Lora) Lehmkuhl, Marion, Iowa and her five grandchildren, Jack, Steven, Meranda, Lexi, and Sadi.

Preceded by: her husband, Webb, November 7, 1974, her parents, one brother,  David and one sister, Zona

Visitation: the family will greet family and friends on Thrusday, August 26, at the funeral home from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Inurnment in Union Mound Cemetery, Sumner, Iowa.

scan_pic0014Fairbank-Corey Allen Annis, of Fairbank, died Saturday, August 7, at University of Iowa Hospital, due to an automobile accident.

He was born on June 6, 1987  at Iowa City, Iowa, son of Dennis and Sherry (Higgins) Annis.

He graduated from Wapsie Valley High School in 2006.  He attended Hawkeye Community College  in Waterloo and graduated in 2009 with a degree in welding.  He had currently left his job at Lifeline in Sumner to start a new career at Deere and Company in Waterloo.

Survived by: his parents, Denny and Sherry (Higgins) Annis of Fairbank. Three brothers, Jason Annis of Oelwein, Justin (Brittany) Annis and Seth Annis both of Fairbank.  Two sisters, Heather (John) Stewart of Marion, and Taylor Annis of Fairbank.  Maternal grandparents, Ralph and Donna Higgins of Fairbank.

Preceded in death by: paternal grandparents, Jack & Marie  Annis, his uncle Brad “Willy” William Higgins and two cousins, Rick Annis and Dylan Welsh.

Services: at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 11, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Fairbank, Iowa, with burial in the Church Cemetery.  Visitation on Tuesday, August 10, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

BRAD “WILLY” WILLIAM HIGGINS

scan_pic0015FAIRBANK-Brad “Willy” William Higgins, of Fairbank, died Friday, August 6, 2010, at Fairbank, Iowa due to an automobile accident.

He was born September 6, 1960 at Waterloo, Iowa, son of Ralph and Donna (Kane) Higgins.

He graduated from Wapsie Valley High School, Fairbank, Iowa in 1978.  He started working for John Deere & Company and then in 1984 he became an employee at Curley’s Sumner Locker in Sumner, Iowa..  In 1997 he became employed by Rockwell Automotive in Sumner until his death.

He married Becky Menuey in 1989.  They later divorced.

Survived by: one son, Shyler (Chelsea) Higgins,  of Johnston, Iowa, a daughter, Mannie Higgins, of Cedar Falls, Iowa.  His parents, Ralph and Donna Higgins, of Fairbank, Iowa.  Two brothers, Brian (Mary) Higgins of Fairbank, Iowa and Terry “Joe” (Denise) Higgins, of Oelwein, Iowa.  Two sisters, Tammy (Keith) Curley,  and Sherry (Denny)Annis, both of Fairbank, Iowa.  Several nieces and nephews and his ex-wife, Becky (Menuey) Higgins.

 Preceded in death by:  his grandparents, Leo and Martha Kane, Harold and Irma Kane and nephews Corey Annis and Dylan Welsh.

Services: at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 11, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Fairbank with burial in the Church Cemetery.  Visitation at the funeral home on Tuesday, August 10, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m.

He was born July 16, 1918 at Fairbank, Iowa, son of Wilbur and Marie (Garber) Finch.

Survived by:  one son, William Finch of Woodridge, Illinois and one daughter, Theresa Finch of Des Plaines, Illinois. Two granddaughters, Andrea Marie Finch, West Chester, Illinois, Leslie Ann Finch, LaGrange, Illinois. One grandson, Nolan Hogan, Naperville, Illinois.  One great grandson, Duron Little

Prececed in death by:  his wives, Viriginia (VanDenover) Finch and Dorothy (Storey) Finch and one daughter Mary Finch Foghi.

Services: at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 25, at Woods Funeral Home, Fairbank with burial in the Fairbank Cemetery.  With Military rites conferred by Fortsch-Duffy Post 552, Fairbank American Legion.   Public visitation an hour before the services at the funeral home.

He was born February 8, 1943 in Oelwein, Fayette County, Iowa son of Venice and Mildred (Lookabaugh) Levendusky.

He married Karen (McFadgen) Husome on November 23, 1972 in Waterloo, Iowa.

Survived by: his wife, Karen of Fairbank; five daughters: Tammy (Kevin) Erickson of Fairbank; Julie Kane of Cedar Rapids; Sarah (Jim) Langel of Cedar Falls; Jamie Levendusky of Oelwein; Jill (Brad) White of Montcello. One son: Steve (Jeannette) Husome, of Cedar Falls.  Two brothers, Gary (Jeanne Wood) Levendusky, of  Sumner and Mitchell Levendusky of Monona.

Preceded in death by:  his parents and one son, David Levendusky.

Services: at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 23, at St. Peters Church, Oran. Family will greet friends on Tuesday, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

MILDRED LEVENDUSKY

WEST UNION- Mildred Levendusky, of  West Union,  former of the Waterloo and Cedar Falls area died on Tuesday, June 8, at Palmer Lutheran  Health Center, West Union, of short illness. 

She was born on February 14, 1921, daughter of David and Ida (Dravis) Lookabaugh.      

She married Venice Levendusky on July 14, 1942 in Fairbank, Iowa.

Survived by:  three sons, James (Karen) Levendusky of Fairbank, Gary (Jeanne Wood) Levendusky of Sumner, and Mitchell Levendusky of Monona.  eight grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: her parents, her husband, Venice on December 10, 2006, one grandson, David Levendusky.  One sister and brother in-law, Myra and Glenn Walters, and step brother and his wife, Harold and Irene Dravis.

Services:  at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 12, at Woods Funeral Home, Fairbank, with inurnment at the Stanley Cemetery, Stanley, Iowa.  The family will greet family and friends on Saturday from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at funeral home.

scan_pic0012FAIRBANK-Clara E. Peters, 83, died at her home in Phoenix, Arizona on Thursday, May 27, 2010. 

Clara was born in Fairbank, Iowa on September 9, 1926 to Tom and Eva (Bond) Harn.

She married Louis D. Peters on August 6, 1946.

Survived by: Teo daughters, Mary Carroll Dimmich of Phoenix, AZ., Eileen (James) Klemme of Phoenix , AZ., and one son, Jerry (Jane) Peters of Shenondah Junction, West Virginia.  Ten grandchildren, six great grandchildren and two sisters, Mary Miller of Fairbank and Dorothy Mersch of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by:  her husband Louis Peters, her parents and one sister, Eileen Corcoran.

Services: at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 19th at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Fairbank, with inurnment at the Church Cemetery. Family will greet people on Friday, June 18 from 4:00 to  8:00 p.m. at the Woods Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers please make donations to the family and one check will be made to Hospice of the Valley in Tempe, Arizona.

FAIRBANK-Jamie Lee Risse, of  Fairbank, died Sunday, May 30, 2010, at Covenant Medical Center, Waterloo, due to complications of cancer.

He was born July 1, 1972 at Iowa City, Iowa, son of James & Kathryn (Kruckenberg) Risse.

He married Jessica Marie Boehme on June 10, 1995 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Fairbank, Iowa.

He was a graduate from Wapsie Valley High School, Fairbank.  He attended NIACC in Mason City, Iowa for two years and then graduated from the University of Northern Iowa.  He was employed at American Color Imaging in Cedar Falls, Iowa.

Survived by: his wife, Jessica, three daughters, Haley, Hanna and Kate, one son, Kobe, all at home.  His parents, James and Kathy Risse, of Fairbank, Iowa.  His father in-law and mother in-law, Tom and Judy Boehme of Fairbank, Iowa. His maternal grandfather, Willis Kruckenberg of  Hampton, Iowa, paternal grandmother, Harriett Risse of Readlyn, Iowa.  Sister in-laws and brother in-laws, Michelle and Shawn Mullihan and Lewis and Chris Boehme, both of Fairbank, Iowa.  Also many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by: Grandmother, Marlys Kruckenberg and grandfather, Wilbur Risse.

Services: at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 2, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Fairbank,  with burial in the Church Cemetery.  Public Visitation from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.

He was born on October 10, 1926 at Fairbank, Iowa, son of  Archie and Genevieve (Kane) DeWald.

Survived by: two sisters in-law, Delores DeWald Haily of Jesup, Iowa and Dixie DeWald of Chandler, Arizona.  Three brothers in-law, Kermit Chesmore of Rowley, Iowa Warren Nichols of West Sacremento, California and Joe Miller of Independence, Iowa , along with many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by: his parents and three sisters, and three brothers.

Services: 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 4, Woods Funeral Home, Fairbank, with burial in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery.  Military Honors will be Conferred by Fortsch-Duffy Post 552, American Legion.  Public visitation from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Woods Funeral Home on Monday, May 3rd.

Bill worked at John Deere Tractor Works in Waterloo for seven years, then at the Rath Packing Company and he also worked with his brother-in-law, Kermit Chesmore for Miller-Olson Bridge Construction and helped bult government bins for the USDA.
