Millie was called to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ August 13, 2017.  Born July 16, 1916 in Sedalia Missouri to Roy and Ethel (Ramsey) Cosselman.  She attended Oran consolidated school graduating in 1934.  She married Dominic Napoli May 3, 1941 in Oelwein IA.  They were married for 74 years.  A member of the Oran United Methodist Church since 1930.  She held various positions in the church in her 87 years of devotion.  She was most proud of having taught Sunday School for 30 years.  She worked at Youngblut’s Hardware and U.S. Post Office in Oran for 23 years.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dominic and two sisters Evelyn (Lester) Weber and Helen (Victor) De Graff.  Survived by her brother Alvin (Eleanor) Cosselman, her sons David (Nancy) Napoli and Dennis (Rose) Napoli.  Four grandchildren; Dina Golightly, Nathan (Laura) Napoli, Nikole (Rick) Hauser and Joey (David) Best, three great grandchildren; Cassidy Golightly, Sophia Napoli and Nicholas Best and a host of nieces, nephews, old friends and new friends.   She was world renown for her skill at performing the chicken dance, a smile that could light up a room and an easy grace that could make all feel welcome.

Services: 10:30 am Thursday, August 17, 2017 at the United Methodist Church, Fairbank, Iowa.

Visitation: 9:00-10:30 am Thursday August 17 at the church.

Interment: Floral Hills Cemetery, Hazleton, IA

Shirley A. Buzynski

Fairbank: Shirley Ann Buzynski age 82 passed away June19, 2017 at Arlington Place from a long illness.  Shirley was born September 13, 1934 in Dunkerton the daughter of Henry and Nela (Anderson) Neith.  She attended and graduated from Jesup Community School. Shirley married Harold Buzynski March 19, 1955 in Independence, IA.  Shirley was a loving mother and homemaker.  Shirley is survived by three daughters; Cindy (Roger) Myers, Fairbank, Kelli (Bruce) Milbrandt, Eagle Lake, MN, Kim Buzynski, Fairbank and five sons; Tom (Melaine) Buzynski, Fairbank, Mitch Buzynski, Fairbank, Mark (Dawn) Buzynski, Des Moines, Peter (Lori) Buzynski Las Vegas, NV,  Scott (Amy) Buzynski, Fairbank, and daughter in-law Susy Buzynski.  26 grandchildren; Angela Chew, Shane Fettkether, Ryan Buzynski, Kara Happel, Troy Buzynski, Ashley Buzynski, Tyler Buzynski, Randy Myers, Cortney (Lucas) Matthias, Brock Buzynski, Nick Hoskyn, Tiffany Hoskyn, Bo Buzynski, Akaisha Buzynski, Hailey Buzynski, Lindsey Buzynski, Aarika (Ryan) Konsdorf, Blake Buzynski, Kelsie Milbrandt, Kylie Milbrandt, Kayla Milbrant, Bryce (Natalia) Milbrandt, Andrew Buzynski, Abigail Buzynski, Isaac Buzynski, Ian Buzynski and nine great grandchildren, Josie Chew, Kiera Chew, Grayson Fry, Jaiden Fettkether, Brady Fettkether, Gavin Fettkether, Allie Happel, Lincoln Myers and Lauren Matthias. She is survived by her brother-in-law; John Buzynski and sister-in-law; Ellie Buzynski.  Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, daughter, Deb Strang, son, Brad Buzynski, son-in-law, Jim Strang, and granddaughter, Bethany Buzynski, two sisters, Pat Hayward, Judy Price, and her mother-in-law, Celia Buzynski and father-in-law, Adam Buzynski.

Services: 10:30 am Friday, June 23, 2017 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Fairbank.

Visitation: 4:00-7:00 pm Thursday, June 22, 2017 at Woods Funeral Home, Fairbank.

Interment: Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Fairbank.

Joseph D. Rolf

 Joseph David Rolf age 56 of Woodward and formerly of Waterloo passed away Friday, June 16, 2017 at the Dallas County Hospital in Perry, Iowa. Joe was born October 2, 1960 in Waterloo the son of Frank and Marie (Jans) Rolf. He had been living at the Woodward Resource Center since 1968, Joe was well cared for and loved by all the staff at the Center. He enjoyed Halloween dances, Summerfest and visits from family members. His favorite foods were pizza, ice cream and hamburgers. Joe’s special moments were two helicopter rides, bowling and trips to Waterloo to see family. He is survived by Diane (Tim) Bohlen of Des Moines, Laura (David) Severson of Evansdale, Michael (Julie) Rolf of Ankeny, Patrick Rolf of Sioux City and Frank (Christine) Rolf of Raymond along with many nieces and nephews. Joe was preceded in death by his parents and a brother James Rolf.

Celebration of Life: 6:00 pm Sunday, June 18, 2017 at Woods Funeral Home, Fairbank, Iowa.

Visitation: 4:00-6:00 pm Sunday June 18 at the funeral home.

Inurnment: Mount Olivet Cemetery, Waterloo at a later date.

Glenda Jeanne Nuebel

Dunkerton: Glenda Jeanne Nuebel, loving wife, mother and grandmother, passed away on Friday May 19 at the Western Home in Cedar Falls from complications of lymphoma.
Glenda was born February 3, 1940 to Glen and Marie (Long) Lakin of Pratt, Kansas. Glenda graduated from Pawnee Rock Rural High School in 1958 and from the Dominican School of Nursing in Great Bend, Kansas in 1961. Glenda worked as a Registered Nurse at hospitals in both Kansas City and Omaha before moving to Iowa.  She was also employed as an RN at the Red Cross blood mobile, Medical Associates in Cedar Falls and Miller Medical in Waterloo.Glenda raised five boys in Dike, Iowa who survive her along with eight grandchildren. Glenda was married on September 16, 1994 to Robert Nuebel of Dunkerton, Iowa. In her retirement she spent time with grandchildren, sunny days in the garden, was a volunteer music teacher at the Amish school and was an organist and choir member at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Fairbank.

Survived by: her husband; Bob, five sons; Scott (Jan) Veatch of Robbinsdale, MN, Rob Veatch of Dassel, MN, Dale Veatch of Emerson, NE, Daryl Veatch of Cedar Falls and Tim Veatch of Urbandale, eight grandchildren; Kayla Veatch, Julia Veatch, Allyson Terpstra, Lyndsey Veatch, Luke Veatch, Nathan Veatch, Noa Veatch and Jonah Veatch as well as one great-grandchild on the way. Glenda is also survived by one brother; Dean (Greta) Lakin of Pawnee Rock, KS and a sister-in-law; Rita Lakin of Chehalis, WA.

Preceded by: her parents and one brother, Dan Lakin.

Services: 10:30 am Thursday, May 25, 2017 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Fairbank.

Visitation: 4:00-7:00 pm Wednesday May 24, 2017 at Woods Funeral Home in Fairbank.

Scripture Service: 7:00 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.

Patrick James Corcoran

Des Moines: Patrick James Corcoran age 72 passed away Thursday, May 11, 2017 at Wesley Acres in Des Moines  from complications of cancer. Pat was born July 24, 1944, the son of Kenneth and Katherine (Boland) Corcoran. Pat graduated from Wapsie Valley High School in 1962. He then attended and graduated from State College of Iowa (now University of Northern Iowa). After college he served two years in the U.S. Army including a deployment to Vietnam. After his service to his country, he began his career with the Travelers Insurance Company in Des Moines. Pat later transferred to New York City and then to Atlanta, Georgia, where he earned his law degree. He retired from Travelers in 2007 and returned to Des Moines. He was a member of All Saints Catholic Church in Des Moines. Pat was also an avid gardener.

Survived by: three brothers; Charles (Mary Ann) Corcoran of Fort Dodge, Wayne Corcoran of Des Moines and Lynn Corcoran of Spencer, four sisters; Colleen (Dennis) Zelinsky of Dubuque, Sharon (Joseph) Rogers of Newton, Linda Corcoran of Orange, CA and Diane (John) Christensen of Janesville as well as several nieces and nephews.

Preceded by: his parents, a brother; Paul and a sister Ginny.

Services: 10:30 am Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Fairbank, Iowa

Visitation: 5:00-7:00 pm Monday May 15 at Woods Funeral Home, Fairbank.

Interment: Immaculate Conception Cemetery with military rites conducted by Fairbank American Legion Fortsch-Duffy Post 552.

Dale G. Neil

 Fairbank: Dale George Neil age 77 passed away Tuesday, May 9, 2017 while doing what he loved, working the land. He was born September 11, 1939 in Waterloo, Iowa the son of Gordon and Gladys (Michelson) Neil. Dale attended and graduated from Fairbank High School the Class of 1957. He married Diane Milius on February 13, 1966 in Denver, Iowa they made their home in rural Fairbank where they raised their two sons. Dale was a lifelong farmer, whether it was raising corn or beans or beef cattle he truly enjoyed life on the farm. He was a member of the Oran Fire Department for more than 20 years. Dale was also a longtime member of the board of directors for the Oran Mutual Telephone Company and was still serving up until the time of his death. Dale was an avid fan of UNI Men’s Basketball and attended almost every home game. He also enjoyed his daily card games with his friends at Jerry’s Autos in Fairbank.

Survived by: his wife; Diane, two sons; William (Becci) and Scott (Kris) both of Fairbank, eight grandchildren; Jeannie (Jesse) Hug, Christina Neil, Katie Neil, Kennadi Neil, Tessa Larson, Sammi Carpenter, Madison Freitag and Kassidy Freitag, three great-grandchildren; Calvin Wilson, Nevaeh Larson and Kinnick Larson. Dale is also survived by one brother; Mel (Judy) Neil of Fairbank and one sister; Doris Parizek of Dysart.

Preceded by: his parents, one sister; Marlys Neil, a brother; Dennis Neil, a sister-in-law; Brenda Neil and a brother-in-law; Larry Parizek.

Visitation: 3:00-7:00 pm Friday, May 12, 2017 at Woods Funeral Home, and for one hour before services at the church on Saturday.

Services: 10:30 am Saturday, May 13, 2017 at Zion Lutheran Church, Oelwein.

Interment: Fairbank Cemetery

In lieu of Flowers: memorials to be directed to the Oran or Fairbank Fire Department.

Allen D. Matthews

Fairbank: Allen Dean Matthews, age 67, passed away Friday, March 31, 2017 at his home. Al was born January 4, 1950 in Oelwein, IA, son of Keith and Lorna (Fortsch) Matthews. He graduated from Wapsie Valley High School in 1968 and from Universal Trades School, Omaha, in 1969.

Al married Karen Allen on October 18, 1969 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Fairbank. He was employed as a service technician in Cedar Rapids and Oelwein; a machinist at Corn Blossom in Independence and worked in maintenance at John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works for 30 years, retiring in 2003. Following his retirement, Al was employed part-time by DuBois Chemical for ten years.

He was a loving father, proud of his children and grandchildren and enjoyed attending school activities and sporting events as well as golfing with friends.

Al is survived by Karen, his wife of 47 years; a daughter, Melissa (Gerhard) Boeschen of Dunkerton; a son, Jason (Denise) Matthews of Randolph, Minnesota; seven grandchildren; Jacob, Morgan, McKenna, McKayla, Mariah, and MeLayna Boeschen of Dunkerton; Courtney (Josiah) Bachtle of Owatonna, Minnesota; two great grandsons, Grayson and Bennett Bachtle. He is also survived by his father-in-law, Dean Allen of Fairbank; three sisters-in-law, Carol (Mike) Tilley, Bloomington, Indiana; Mary Kay (Denny) Frost, Fairbank and Pam (Gary) Miller, Rosemount, Minnesota.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, David Matthews and Darrell Matthews and a sister-in-law, Marilyn; his mother-in-law, Marie Allen; step mother-in-law, Frances Trebon Allen and a niece, Liza Frost.

Services: 10:30 am Tuesday April 4, 2017 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Fairbank.

Visitation: 4:00-7:00 pm, Monday April 3, 2017 at Woods Funeral Home, Fairbank with a 7:00 pm scripture service.

Interment: Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Fairbank.

Margaret V. Staack

Oran: Margaret Veronica Staack age 87 of Oran , died Thursday March 23, 2017 at Tripoli Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of natural causes.

She was born July 22, 1929 in rural Fairbank the daughter of William and Blanche (Shannon) Kane. She married LaVern Staack on October 4, 1952 at St. John’s Catholic Church, Independence. He died September 10, 2003. Margaret is survived by two daughters; Kathy Staack (Lon her significant other) of Cedar Rapids and Diane (Scott) Danner of Tripoli; five grandsons; Travis (Marcia) Greco of Ankeny, Gabe (Shannon) Greco of Huxley, Tony (Jessica) Greco of Des Moines, Jared Danner of Ames and Logan Danner of Tripoli along with eight great-grandchildren; Sophia, Grady, Reed, Owen, Zander, Autumn, Brenna and Paris. She is also survived by a sister and brother-in-law; Helen and Merlyn Cummings of Santa Barbara, CA. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one brother Joe Kane, three sisters; Agnes Kane in infancy, Genevieve Gritton and Kathryn Reith.

Margaret worked for 34 years as a custodian for Wapsie Valley Community Schools. She and Lavern farmed for many years in the Oran area. She loved working in the field and always kept informed on farm markets. She also enjoyed politics and kept up on current events. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She kept her sense of humor to the end. Margaret had a strong faith in god and was comforted by him during her hardships.

Services: 10:30 am Tuesday March 28, 2017 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Fairbank.

Visitation: 5:00-7:00 pm Monday, March 27, 2017 at Woods Funeral Home, Fairbank.

Parish Rosary: 4:45 pm Monday, March 27 at the Funeral Home.

Burial: Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Fairbank.

Duane H. Meyer

Fairbank: Duane H. Meyer age 87 of Fairbank and formerly of Readlyn, died Sunday, March 19, 2017 at Unity Point Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo.

He was born July 5, 1929 in rural Readlyn, the son of Edwin and Hilda (Schweer) Meyer. He graduated from Readlyn High School. While stationed in Alaska, he served in the U.S. Army as a Corporal during the Korean War from 1951-1953 in the 196th RTC. He married Laraine M. Rettig on April, 17, 1955 at Faith United Church of Christ, Tripoli.

He was employed at Farmer’s Coop in Readlyn for three years and then  worked at John Deere Tractor Works for 28 years until retirement. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Fairbank. He was also a member of the VFW Post 5661 in Readlyn and the American Legion Post 552 in Fairbank. Duane and his wife Laraine lived in Fairbank for 34 years.

Survived by: his wife, three Daughters; Crystal Gienau of Cedar Falls, Pamela (Jack) Ryan of Debary, FL and Julie (Jerome) Torgerson of Decorah, 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: his parents, his step-father; Herman Hesse, two brothers; Victor and Norbert and four step-sisters; Florence, Letha, Lena and Lila.

Services:  10:30 AM Thursday, March 23, 2017 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Fairbank.

Visitation:  4:00-7:00 PM Wednesday, March 22 at Woods Funeral Home and for one hour before services at the church on Thursday.

Burial: Fairbank Cemetery with Military Rites conducted by VFW Post 5661 of Readlyn and American Legion Post 552 of Fairbank.

Memorials: to St. John’s Lutheran Church, Fairbank.

Duane was an avid Fisherman. He enjoyed traveling, bird watching and loved to garden.
