George Wesley Copenhaver age 64 of rural Oelwein passed away Monday, July 22, 2024, at Harmony Waterloo. George was born September 26, 1959, in Oelwein, son of Kenneth and Cora “Jean” (Halstead) Copenhaver. He grew up on the family farm in rural Oelwein and attended Wapsie Valley Schools until his graduation in 1978. After high school George served six years in the United States Army as a Motor Pool Sgt. After his time in the service, George worked in the construction industry as a driver and equipment operator for 20 years. Following his career in the construction industry George worked another 10 years for Spahn & Rose Lumber as a delivery driver. Away from work George enjoyed time spent outdoors, his love for fishing and hunting followed with him until his health would not allow.

George is survived by his two brothers, Joseph Copenhaver and Walt (Pat) Copenhaver; Two sisters; Karen (Logan) Buenger and Diane Reeves.

Preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Cora Copenhaver; Grandparents, Glen and Ruby Copenhaver, Walter and Martha Halstead.

Visitation: 10:00-11:00 AM Monday, July 29, 2024 at Woods Funeral Home followed by interment at Alcock Cemetery, Frederika, Iowa.
