James “Jim” Edward Schneider, age 66, of Readlyn passed away suddenly on Tuesday, August 19, 2025. Jim was born January 31, 1959 in Waterloo, the son of Carl and Lori (Mangrich) Schneider. Jim attended Wapsie Valley Community Schools and graduated with the class of 1977.  On October 6, 1984, he married Jody Otto at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Klinger. Jim began his career in agriculture at Readlyn Farm Center. He worked in the feed mill and hauled feed for local farmers in the area. After the closing of Readlyn Farm Center, he continued the work he loved at Dunkerton Co-Op Elevator. Jim continued serving in the agricultural industry until he retired within the last few years. When he wasn’t working his day job, he could be found doing handyman chores and fixing up things around the house. Jim loved the outdoors, whether it was hunting or farming, it was for him.  Most recently, his favorite hobby was spending time with his five grandkids that he loved so much.

Survived by: His wife of 40 years, Jody, a daughter, Jenna Schneider of Jesup; a son, Justin (Abbie) Schneider of Jesup; another daughter Jacee (Travis) Kvach of Cedar Rapids; five grandkids Bo, Ava, Kylie, Jack Schneider, and Madden Kvach; one sister, Linda (Norm) Delagardelle; one brother, Bob (Jackie) Schneider; mother-in-law, Bev Otto; brother-in-law, Gary Weber.

Preceded in death by: His parents Carl and Lori Schneider; sister, Joyce Weber; father-in-law, Darwin Otto

Visitation: 3:00-7:00 am Monday, August 25, 2025 at Woods Funeral Home

Funeral Mass: 10:30 am Tuesday, August 26, 2025 at Immaculate Conception Fairbank.

Interment: Immaculate Conception Cemetery

Lunch will be served at the Immaculate Conception Parish Center in Fairbank following the service.

Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.
