Fairbank: William Nicholas Kerns died December 7, 2011 at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo Ia. from complications of kidney cancer which resulted in a blood clot.

He was born on May 31, 1956 the son of William and Ruby (Baldwin) Kerns in Oelwein Ia.

He married Brenda Judisch on October 7, 1978 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Fairbank.

Bill was employed at Woods Construction for 13 years and was then employed at Wapsie Valley Schools for the next 13 years. He was employed for the next 12 years until his death at Mercy Hospital with Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare.

He is survived by his wife Brenda, his mother Ruby Lahner of Oelwein, his Brother Larry (Sandy) Loban of Dunkerton.

He is preceded in death by his father Bill Kerns Sr.

Services at 11:00 am on Saturday December 10 at Zion Lutheran Church in Oelwein, with burial in the Fairbank Cemetery.  Public visitation on Friday December 9 from 5:00-7:00 pm and 1 hour before services at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

  3. We was sorry to hear about the passing of your loved one. Death may cast a shadow over you as you go about your daily life. Your love one’s death brings you face-to-face with the fact that they are gone too soon. While you call to mind the happy memories, you may also remember the enormity of the loss. But, “Do not let your hearts be troubled”. (John 14:27) May you find comfort as the “the last enemy”, death will be done away with. (1 Corinthians 15:25, 26). Let this time be a tribute to their wonderful life. Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal.

  5. I was so sorry to hear of Bill’s passing. I worked with him for 5 years at Mercy until 2008. He was a wonderful person and will be missed by so many. My thoughts and prayers to his family and friends.
