Pat L. Shannon picFAIRBANK-Patrick (Pat) L. Shannon died on Sunday February 15th at his home in Fairbank of cancer.

He was born on August 23, 1946 at rural Fairbank, Iowa , son of Daniel and Veronica (Weber) Shannon.

He graduated from Immaculate Conception Catholic High School, Fairbank in 1964.  Went into the U.S.Army on November 01, 1965 discharged on November 01, 1967.

He married Susan Kleitsch  on September 18, 1971 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Fairbank, Iowa.

After working for 33 years at Deere and Company in Waterloo he retired.  He then worked for the Isle of Capri in Marquette for 5 years.

Survived by: his wife: Susan, daughter: Kimberly (Terry Kupka) Shannon, Holt Missouri, two sons: Christopher (Kara) Shannon of Charles City and Trevor (Mandy) Shannon of Burnsville, Minnesota.  Six grandchildren: Aidan, Garet, Emry, Aislynn, Andrea and Asher. Two sisters: Colleen (Joe) Bovy of Fairbank and Marian (Pat) Woods of Jesup.  Two brothers: Dale (Dorothy) Shannon of Raymond and Dan (Deanna) Shannon of Waterloo.

Preeceded in Death by: his parents, one daughter Andrea and his father in-law Norbert Kleitsch.

Services:  at 10:30 am. on Thursday, February 19, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Fairbank.  Visitation on Wednesday at the funeral home from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a rosary at 4:00 and Scripture Service at 7:00 p.m.  Visitation also an hour before services at the  funeral home on Thursday.

Burial: in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Fairbank. Graveside Military Rites conducted by Fortsch-Duffy Post 552 of Fairbank.

Memorials: in lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to be given to the American Cancer Society (Hope Lodge), Fairbank American Legion Veterans Park or to the family.

  22. Sorry to hear of the Shannon family’s loss of Pat. Pat and I were part of the Immaculate Conception High School Class of 1964. Though our paths separated after graduation, I did get to see Pat over the years at various class reunions. Pat always was a gentleman, always upbeat, always proud of what he had accomplished in life. Till we meet again, requiescat in pace, Pat, requiescat in pace.
