Gerald “Jerry” W. Galleger

Fairbank: Gerald William Galleger age 80 passed away at his home on Tuesday, August 11, 2015 after a courageous battle with cancer. Jerry was born October 6, 1934 in Emmetsburg the son of William and Monica (Fischer) Galleger. He worked at Rath Packing Company for 31 years and also owned the Pub in Fairbank for a period of time and he later worked for Froning Farm Drainage in Fairbank. Jerry  married Jean Golinveaux May 12, 1956 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waterloo and together they raised five children. Jerry loved to bowl, golf, hunt and the outdoors but most of all Jerry was IRISH and very proud of it.

Survivors: his wife of 59 years Jean, three daughters; Deb (Mike) Buenzow of Sumner, Kelly Galleger of Oelwein and Erin Galleger of Reston, VA, two sons; Sean (Janet) Galleger and Dion (Kathie Wolfgram) Galleger both of Fairbank, nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, one brother; Robert (Ellen) Galleger of McGregor, two sisters; Beverly Joblinske of Colorado Springs, CO and Karen Railsback of Canyon Lake, TX , one brother-in-law; Garry Golinveaux of Cedar Falls and one sister-in-law; Gloria Golinveaux of Normal, IL

Preceded by; his parents, one brother; Leroy Galleger, two brothers-in-law; William Joblinske and Thomas Railsback.

Services: 10:30 am Saturday, August 15, 2015 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Fairbank

Visitation: 4:00-7:00 pm Friday, August 14  with Parish Rosary at 3:30 pm  at Woods Funeral Home.

Burial: Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Fairbank.

Memorials: in lieu of flowers maybe directed to the family to be distributed to various charities.

  1. My condolences to the family. I didn’t know him well but for the times I did meet him he was full of life.

  2. Sorry for your loss Deb/ you have our prayers and sympathy/Pat will be there too greet him and who knows what will happen then!
