DENNIS RAYMOND DUFFY

                     ORLANDO, FLORIDA- Dennis Raymond Duffy, 58, former resident of Fairbank, Iowa, died August 20, 2011, at his Orlando, Flordia home.  Dennis was born November 6, 1952, in Waterloo, Iowa to Patricia and Aloysius Duffy, of Fairbank.

Dennis served in the United States Navy as a Chief Engine-man Diesel Inspector.  During his 20 year career, he served in the Vietnam War, Desert Storm and Gulf War: Operation Desert Storm.  He received the Vietnam Service Medal, Battle “E” Award, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Navy Achievement Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (2nd award), National Defense Service (2nd award), Southwest Asia Service Medal with Bronze Star, Expert Rifle Medal, Kuwait Liberation Medal and 4 Good Conduct Awards.

Dennis lived in New Orleans for a time and endured the hardships from Hurricane Katrina.  He then moved to Orlando, Flordia to be with his children.  He spend his final year and a half in the care of lhis previous wife, Melodie and their children, Melissa and Brett.

Our family circle is broken.  He  is survived by his wife, Colleen; his daughter, Melissa; his son Brett.  Our sibling circle is broken.  Remaining siblings are: Patrick (Sherry) Duffy, Erie, IL,. Colleen (Darold) Matthias, Sumner, Galen (Bonnie) Duffy, Jesup, Kathy (Duffy) Volker Fairbank and Sherry (Francis) Weber, also of Fairbank; along with several nieces, great-nieces, nephews and great-nephews.

At Dennis’ request, no service will be held.  Dennis loved the warm climates.  He will be laid to rest, with Military Honors, in the Flordia National Cemetery for Veterans in Bushnell, Flordia, WE THANK YOU  for proudly protecting our rights, our way of life and the United States of America.

  1. I am so sorry for your loss. May “the God of all comfort” (2 Corinthians 1:3,4) comfort and soothe your heart. His promises, found in the Holy Scriptures, can offer much hope. It assures us at John 5:28,29 that our loved ones will be remembered and brought back to life in the resurrection. Please allow God’s Word to strengthen you and help you to endure this most difficult time.
