BEATRICE ISABELLE BATES

Fairbank-Beatrice (Bea) Isabelle Bates, of Oelwein formerly of Fairbank, died Friday, August 19, at Grandview HealthCare Center in Oelwein.

She was born June 18, 1921 at Oneal, Nebraska, daughter of Ernest Marion and Lillian Mae (Stahly) Harris.

She married Kenneth Bates on November 17, 1944.

Survived by: Two daughters: Paula (Clifford) Reed, Oelwein and Marsha (Tony) Sherbon, Marengo.  Two sons: Kerry (Dee) Bates, Lovett, TX and Edward Bates, Oelwein.  10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren

Preceded in death by:  her husband, Kenneth, September 1997 and one sister, Marie Harris.

Services:  at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 24, at Woods Funeral Home, Fairbank, with inurnment in the Fairbank Cemetery.  Family will greet friends and family on Tuesday at the funeral home from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m and one hour before services on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

  2. Im so sorry to hear about Aunt Bee. I would always go and talk with her when visitig my Dad in Fairbank. I remmember she always had so many questions when we would talk. She would be with your Dad now still asking him questions im sure. Our thoughts are with you. Tom

  5. Marsha, so sorry to see the obit on your mom. Looking online at Courier and recognized her picture before I seen the name. She looks exactly how I remembered her. With sympathy, Janie Miller.

  6. I am so sorry for your loss. May “the God of all comfort” (2 Corinthians 1:3,4) comfort and soothe your heart. His promises, found in the Holy Scriptures, can offer much hope. It assures us at John 5:28,29 that our loved ones will be remembered and brought back to life in the resurrection. Please allow God’s Word to strengthen you and help you to endure this most difficult time.
